This review doesn't stem from the BBQ, as we didn't order any genuine BBQ this sit down, with that being said the establishment was cozy, the atmosphere was nice and my fiance and I were sharing our first time there with a couple sitting across from us.
We didn't have any negative encounters with the staff, in fact the only blunder was when I was caught not listening and said I wanted coke, when she had clearly just said they had pepsi products.
Let's get down to the food shall we? I ordered the daily special, which was a Reuben at the time, my fiance ordered some sliders with onion petals (basically their take on a blooming onion), all-in-all the quality standard on our food was delicious, it was crispy when it needed to be and tender when it needed to be, we even had to wait just a little extra because the onion petals they WANTED to send us, got sent back to the kitchen cause the head chef didn't like the way it was coming out of the kitchen, so props to them on maintaining quality.
The pièce de résistance however, came in the form of our appetizer, we ordered the spicy spring rolls (not too spicy) and unfortunately we only managed to capture one of these little beauties in photo form, because by the time we realized we needed to take a photo, they were almost gone.
I absolutely kid you not, every other spring roll after this one is just meh, this was just supposed to be the opener of the meal and instead it ended up being the masterpiece, I took an un-expecting bite into that first spring roll and it was as if time around the table spun into slow motion, I literally closed my eyes and made an audible sound of enjoyment, something I never actually do. (Even at 5 star steak houses.)
My fiance wasn't having it, till she actually tried one for herself and the same exact reaction came out of her, the appetizer was an absolute experience that transcended beyond just eating, they paired it with a ranch dip that topped it off and complimented it even more generously, that being said you could eat them plain and be set.
Overall the experience was fantastic, we plan on going back again and trying the BBQ for real this time, cause if their quality standard for their food was that high for non-bbq related items this visit?
I can only imagine what their BBQ...
Read moreFirst time here and we will definitely return. Bubba Annie's has an excellent menu for pub type food and southern meats and veggies. But, what I love if the comfortable ambience with about a dozen large screen TVs, each with sports. Any direction you face you see your sports program. Awesome. I had their special, hot pastrami on marble rye. I love pastrami, but my expectations for pastrami sandwiches was formed by the standard massive amounts of pastrami on sandwiches in California, NY, and Chicago. This said, it was a good sandwich. As a side, I had half French fries and half onion rings which were generous in portion size and well executed. The o-rings are kind of like the Beacon's (or Tony Roma's) only less greasy, and the French fries were the seasoned type. Not my favorite (but they are probably somebodies favorite), but they were tasty and hot. Bubba Annie's serves sandwiches and fries with a generous cup of great, in-house made, horseradish sauce--Very tasty! My wife had the 8 ounce hamburger patty mushroom burger. Massive to say the least, though, I agree with those people who would prefer a smaller "smash-type" hamburger patty in order to have more of a grilled burger taste, rather than the taste of a burger cooked on a more low slow heat (which got me to think about how to go about making an 8 ounce smash burger). I had driven by Bubba Annie's a thousand times. In doing so I always noticed that the parking lot if always full, plus, it has stayed in business over the many years I have driven by it without stopping in. I guessed correctly that it was a Southern-style restaurant (customarily not my favorite), but it is certainly a hybrid Southern-style worthy of a dig further into the...
Read moreI had a 5 star review but I changed it. The food is still top notch but the service has slipped a long way lately. The past two times I came in with my boss we waited forever for someone to take our order. Also they don’t do meat and three on Saturday. The waitress said it was because they are busy on Saturday for college football. But it was still a month til the football season. This evening however took the cake. I was going to do a to go order on my way home from work. Bubba amines is out of the way but the food is amazing. I called and was promptly put on hold. I began driving. 9 minutes of the 16 minute drive I was on hold so I hung up and called back. I was again put on hold and was still on hold when I came through the door. It was not dead inside but wasn’t busy either. 9 people were at the bar and two of them were leaving. I sat down. Another ten minutes passed before any one asked me for my order. One waitress with a butterfly on her leg was talking to a guy at the bar while another kept going in and out the side door. When the bar tender asked me what I wanted to drink I said nothing I’ve been trying to place an order for thirty minutes. She said I hadn’t been there that long so I explained about being put on hold. A fourth waitress came by a few minutes later and I could tell the bartender was chewing her out. It took 45 minutes to order and leave with my to go order from...
