Review: Chef's Lin's Asian Bistro
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We have been looking for a new sushi place since Sushi Hana closed down off of Haywood Rd, and our search has finally come to an end! We recently discovered Chef's Lin's Asian Bistro nearby and were impressed by their 4.9 rating. Tonight, we decided to give it a try, and it exceeded all of our expectations.
When we first walked in, we thought it was strictly a take-out place, but we couldn't have been more wrong. The ambiance was modern and upscale, with mounted TVs and smooth, soft, relaxing music filling the air. We started with an order of edamame, which was fresh, warm, and generously portioned. I ordered a plum wine, which was superb, and a mushroom soup that tasted so good it seemed to have instant therapeutic powers.
My wife ordered the Philadelphia Roll and a classic roll, while I went for the Paradise Roll, featuring Shrimp Tempura, avocado, cucumber, and spicy crab meat wrapped in pink seaweed paper. The presentation was stunning (see pics), but the taste was even better. The rolls had the perfect portion of rice—just a thin layer—and the flavors burst in my mouth, creating a spectacular explosion of freshness and blend. The spicy mayo on the side was freshly made and served in ample amounts, and the chopsticks were authentic and well-designed, unlike the cheap plywood ones you usually get.
We were so delighted that we had to share our experience with the manager, Daisy, who is very nice and sweet. She informed us that this is their 5th location and that this location has been open for three months. We will definitely be coming back! The prices are surprisingly good, making the experience even better. Oh, and the plum wine was perfection as well.
Chef's Lin's Asian Bistro is our new sushi place, just 2.7 miles from home. Highly...
Read moreDon't walk, RUN to Chef Lins. I'd say that due to the location and the amount of time it's been open, this place qualifies as a hidden gem. You may never notice it when you're going down Woodruff Rd, but I'd implore you to give it a try! Our sushi pizza was fantastically fresh as well as the nigiri. It was the freshest fish I'd had in a while (devoured before a photo could be taken lol). Our sushi rolls were full of flavor and were very decently sized for the price. Presentation is key - I have never had sushi presented to me like this before with all of the garnish on the side and I thought it was just beautiful! This elevates Chef Lin above other restaurants, such as Konnichiwa in downtown Greenville, who also seems to serve sushi with decorations pictured below, but in my experience, I have never been lucky enough to get that kind of service from them.
Chef Lins service is wonderful. Our waitress was quick and attentive, and our food came out within a reasonable time. The inside of the restaurant is serene. Again, don't hesitate to give Chef Lins a try. It's been a while since I've been to a restaurant that has the whole package like this one!
The food looks good aesthetically, tastes good and is priced reasonably? ✔️ Restaurant is clean and beautiful inside? ✔️ Service is prompt and reliable? ✔️
An overall 10/10 experience. I'll be back and I'll be telling everyone I...
Read moreService was prompt but sometimes too eager. The Server stood at our table asking us to order after only a few minutes while we were still looking at the menu. They need to read the guest first… if menus are open and the guests are reviewing the menus, wait another few minutes. Felt rushed. She kept coming back over and over. I needed a break to be able to finish and told her that but she came back 2 more times very quickly asking me if I were done again. I felt rushed, again. They removed one plate that still had wasabi and ginger on it without asking …and my other plate was depleted of wasabi and ginger. They need to ask before removing plates. The Toro was very chewy. Disappointed with the Toro. The spicy mussels had too much mayo, hiding the flavor of the mussels but the mussels were tasty. The spicy Salmon tartar was excellent. I’d order this again! The sashimi was fresh, good sized pieces and fresh. The pork Gyoza were to die for… delicious. Miso soup was very good. Last, but not least, their suggested “tip” calculation is including the tax in the base amount. I HATE restaurants that do that. Your tip should be based on the cost of the meal and should NOT consider the tax on top. This inflates the tip needlessly. I work in the industry and always tip, but let’s all agree it should be 15%-25% of the cost of the meal...
