It took me almost 2 years for the stars to align so my daughter and I could eat here. We were celebrating her 16th birthday and unfortunately my husband could not come with us. She wanted to eat here as part of her birthday gift. Didn't seem that busy last night. Walked in and were seated not at a booth (there were 3 or 4 booths open by the windows), but at a table that was 8 feet from the door. I chose to sit by my daughter as I did not want to look at every single person who walked in. I did not ask to be moved as I was just happy to finally have the chance to eat here as several people had told me how wonderful the food was. Waiter came by and took our order after about 15 minutes. He didn't really have good people skills, but I chalked it up to maybe that was just his personality. Then we began waiting. And waiting. And waiting. After about 20 minutes, we received our samosas. They were really good. Then more waiting, and waiting. Maybe another 25 to 30 minutes. In the mean time no one had come by to check on us. Got our food. I had ordered chicken biryani. It was good, but not the best I have had. My daughter ordered butter chicken and she said it was too salty and barely ate any of it. Would have asked to send it back, but once again saw no one. Finished eating. No waiter to be found. Watched as the couple and the man that came in after us leave. Still no one to bring us our bill. Finally got the bill, paid and left. Drove home which is 40 minutes away thinking that the drive to and from this place was not worth it. Not sure if this is normal here, but I feel like the male staff did not want to wait on my daughter and I. I didn't even tell my daughter what I was thinking and she told me afterwards that she felt like no one wanted to wait on us. Something against females being alone? It was just weird. Don't think I will be back. I ate at the same Indian restaurant in Charleston for 14 years and I miss them terribly. They treated us like family. Was hoping to find a place that would be comparable even if it meant driving 40 minutes to and from as there are no Indian restaurants where we live.. This place is not it. We love Indian food. So...
Read moreI try my hardest to give this place a chance every few months in hopes that they will listen to their patrons and do better. I am always disappointed. Ordered takeout and they gave me a laughable small box of rice when I even made sure to ask for extra in my notes. Seriously? You can’t even give me enough rice for the portion of the entree I paid $18 for? Rice is FREE every Indian restaurant you go, and if it isn’t, they give you at least enough for the meal. To add to that, I ordered a goat dish and all I got was bones without any meat. The quality isn’t there. The service isn’t there. Spent $42 of my hard earned money. There is a reason Saffron down the road beats this place out of the water. I do not recommend and will not be coming back. This has happened MORE than once, with no rectifying from the manager, and only apologies. Your apology doesn’t bring a portion of my paycheck back.
By the way, they changed the name of their restaurant on google so they can have better reviews. They used to have way more than 25 reviews, most of them not so great.
Have pride in your business before you push all your customers out the door. You should be ashamed of selling food with just bones inside and skimping people on their meals.
Edit: in response to your reply, you may have gotten smaller containers, but your rice portions are still not adequate for the size of your entrees. Traditional Indian food is served with rice and bread as accompaniments. I purchased bread. The majority of almost any gravy based dish is eaten with rice. Also, rice is inexpensive so I’m not understanding how you’re charging $18+ for an entree but refuse to give enough rice. It’s not a soup. Not a single Indian restaurant in the area has such a skimp portion on rice. And the rest of my review stands, but thanks for...
Read moreUpon entering was seated promptly and it smelled great in there. Was sat at a booth with the seat pad moved away from the wall and it was utterly filthy under the pad w/ crumbs etc. Wall had also seen better days. Lots of paint missing. I went for my first helping. Several vegetarian dishes, two chicken and one fish. Paneer and chicken curry was identical except for the protein. A little sweet and creamy tomato soup like. Wasn't bad, wasn't amazing either. 5/10 They had pakora but was slim pickings but I got a few pieces. 5/10 Butter naan wasn't bad 6/10. Moist for the most part Tandoori chicken was pretty decent. Pretty moist for the most part and flavorful 7/10 After my first plate, there was a situation where they had no food and a LOT of people were waiting... and waiting.... and waiting. Two women probably stood there for 20 mins waiting for something to come out as they had "to go" containers. The line was building, and people were getting annoyed. I was sitting and waiting as I had a view of the buffet. The women in charge was directing the kitchen but to no avail. Eventually things made it out to the dining room. I tried the fish curry dish along with the mushroom and spinach lentil dish as well. They all were "not bad' Everything was mid. I've had AMAZING Indian food at buffets and I've def had worse. I was visiting town, and I was excited to go to an Indian buffet b/c in my area, they all have been down since covid and none have come back This was only the second Indian buffet I've had in over three years.
If I come back to Greenville, I probably wouldn't come here again, not for the price, wait, and quality of food just...
