Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in South Carolina

I would like to express that I normally don't give a business a negative review however I visited this Churchs for a bite to eat. There were several signs posted in view advertising specials with the prices included. Also inside dining was not available so drive thru was the only option if you didn't choose online ordering. The drive thur wait line was extremely long resulting in cars entering the establishment from Two Notch road to wait in the median. A gentleman wearing and displaying a Churchs emblem on his shirt exited the bldg and began yelling (not in a professional manner) to move your car up. When I reached the display kiosk to order a female also exited the rear of the bldg and instructed customers to order at the window because it wasn't working. Let me say that I visited this Churchs in February and the kiosk was not working then. When I finally approached the drive thru window( about 20 minutes)and placed my order for tender and shrimp $6.00 special that was clearly posted x2 on the bldg I was informed by the server that there was not a special with tenders just 8 piece shrimp only and stated that the sign needed to come down. She offered me the shrimp special with a biscuit and fries, no drink and voiced that there were no substitutes. I ordered what she offered but added a strawberry drink.(Total: $7.58) Order was prepared quickly and I left the drive thur about to exit on to Two Notch road when I realized that I didn't have my drink. I entered the drive thru line again(waiting longer than 15 minutes before I reached the window again. I informed the server that I didn't get my drink and also that I was not satisfied with the shrimp because they didn't taste fresh. I could hear other servers once the window was closed speaking rudely about my complaining regarding the food and the server who assisted me was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional telling me to calm down and could also be heard by me engaging in conversations with other servers. I was becoming extremely displeased with what was taking place inside this establishment with these millennium employees however I am a senior citizen with integrity and grace and remained calm! Another female server approached the window and offered to redo my order. This young ladies name was Shay and she informed me that she was the shift leader. She displayed a very professional attitude apologizing for her staffs behavior. Listen I know this is a very long post but it was necessary to voice and make aware of this establishments unprofessional behavior. Perhaps Corporate is not aware of actions of their employees with this Churchs or customers just haven't complained. A non working kiosk for ordering food, rude and disrespectful employees, false and out of date or expired advertisements, no condiments should not be permitted. Two Notch road is a main thourfair and Church is a popular eating establishment. Get this business in order or perhaps this franchise should not exist!! If I could rate this establishment with NEGATIVE stars I would. Where do I start? 1st, There’s a note taped on the menu in the drive-through stating drive around to the window to place your order. However, once you pull up to the window, you’re ignored for about 3 minutes. Finally, an employee comes to the window to inform you oh I’m sorry our drive-through is down. You’ll have to come inside to place your order. So I parked. I go inside. when I get inside, there’s one gentleman waiting for food. There’s one employee behind the counter. a young man. I walk in, stand at the counter, the employee never says one word. No, I’ll be with you in a moment. Can I take your order? How are you doing? He proceeds to walk back-and-forth from The kitchen area to the office. Bear in mind this entire time The only person that’s working is the older gentleman in the kitchen that’s frying chicken by the baskets. There are four other people employees in the store a female who I think was the manager, the three young males, one in which ignored me the entire time I stood at the counter. It was just so unnecessary. I stood there waiting. A gentleman came in. He waited. Three other ladies came in. They waited, the whole time the first young man who was walking back-and-forth grabbed his cell phone & walks outside.. He saw us in the lobby he never informed the workers hiding out in the office that customers was in the lobby. Finally, the older gentleman who’s working like a slave frying chicken goes to the office to let the employees who were hiding out back there, know that customers were in the lobby. The female manager walks out of the office, goes to the area where the gentleman is frying the chicken and starts to ridicule him, telling him that he needed to change the oil or something to that effect. My thing is he was the only person in the store that was working!!! That store needs to be revamped. The employees definitely need some training on customer service. The store needs to be cleaned/remolded!! Maybe try hiring people who really want to work because clearly the people that were in that store today for the exception of the old gentleman. None of those people wanted to be there. You could tell by the way they didn’t interact with the customers. I felt like they wanted us to leave. I believe this to be the Churches I went to in 1983, it was across from Columbia Mall anyway if not the exact same location. We had such a terrible experience back then that I have not set foot in a Churches Chicken Restaurant nor have I eaten their chicken since 1983. I told them I would never eat Churches chicken again and I haven't. About 35 years now. And I have purchased many meals from many places but not them. My wife and I wanted to go to Sesqui State Park one summer and have a picnic, we had a coupon at Church's for something like 8 pieces of chicken, a few sides and 4 pieces of corn on the cob. So on the way to the park we stopped by this Church's Chicken. They would not honor the coupon because they said they were out of corn, I told them that was okay, I don't want the corn anyway, I don't like corn on the cob, just give me the chicken and other sides and charge me the same price on the coupon, but they would not. I again explained I don't want the corn and it would be to their advantage NOT to give me the corn and not even reduce the cost, they said they could not honor the coupon because they don't have the corn. I said I heard what you said, just give me everything else and PRETEND you gave me the corn, they would not. Well... I never really liked their chicken anyway, always to greasy and burnt tasting like the oil is old. I still like to contact corporate headquarters about every 5 years and remind them about the rude way I was treated and I have lived up to my promise that they will never get another dollar of my money.
