Hotel Columbia — Hotel in Columbia

The only reason i put 5 stars is so maybe people will see this and save themselfs the trouble. I can't even give one star.. Please do not stay here. Booked the motel for my brothers graduation in Columbia South Carolina, the pictures looked decent like any other cheap motel. It wasn't even worth 20$. Got to see the rooms before we actually checked in and the were in bad shape. Only one or two outlets worked, only one light worked, holes in the doors, bathroom tiles falling out in the tub, no door handles, dirty linen in the rooms, old toothbrush, front door didn't even shut right, stains everywhere, what looked like blood on a soap bar.... Just all around bad but hey we just needed a place to sleep since we weren't going to spend much time at the place. Got back to the motel after visiting the ocean hadn't even been there 24 hours and found a roach in the bathroom and a bed bug on the bed, oh and on the wall. Went right up to the office to request my money back because we obviously weren't staying there and the lady was rude and tried telling me to call the online number to get my money back sense i booked online(i tried booking over the phone in the first place and they said it is only online) the number online is to this same place and they are independently owned so calling cooporate although they are friendly wouldn't help. The lady kept telling me this and would not give me the managers number. I have to file a dispute with my bank now in order to hopefully get my money back for a place i didn't even spend one night in. Please if you are looking for a place to stay keep looking. We ended up staying at a motel 6 it was so much better and everyone was friendly. Almost anywhere else would be better than the...

Not even a whole night here and I am disappointed. Holes in the walls, the room smells weird, I had a hard time locking the door, the pillows are terrible, there's an overall grossness about the room too.

The photos provided by the company very inaccirately depicts the establishment, they probably took those on opening day 20 years ago (exaggeration) or something.

And don't bother calling the hotel. They don't answer the phone.

Summary: Smelled weird, housekeeping doesn't know how to clean, the fire alarm was missing (ain't that against regulations?), the pillows were lumpy and terrible, gouges in the walls, the door had trouble locking, they made us check in at a window around a creepy corner, the area is overall shady, the stucco on the ceiling was coming off, unclean room, I was afraid to even shower in there with how gross this room was. Light fixtures don't work. Only bathroom light worked. Front door doesn't close all the way. I killed 7 roaches in the 1st 30 mins in my room!😱. Limited t.v channels. But u get cinemax. 2 pillows on my king bed?! Had to stuff plastic bags in the holes on the room door to try to keep bugs from coming in. Wi-Fi is 👍.Dirty towels in bathroom! Well...that's what I got for $45! UPDATE!! I paid $275 for a week. After the 1st night, I asked for a refund. They gave me the " run around" for 2 days to make me stay 2 days to get $90. When I checked out, after their promising to refund my money for 5 out of the 7 days. I was told to check out and come back later that afternoon for a $185 refund. Thought I had to call the police to get my money back!!! NEVER AGAIN!! How they haven't been shut down is beyond me! Staff was HATEFUL...
