Our 1st visit to this new to us pizza restaurant was disappointing. We stopped in on a Saturday evening around 6:30. We walked into an empty of diners place that was not very inviting. We were asked to sit anywhere we liked so we looked for a clean table. The young man was quick to clean a table for us. The server was very eager to provide great service. He was able to answer all our questions. Michael ordered a beer while we chose our food and looked around at the eclectic decorations.
I'd like to add here that we are a fan of pizza and have found some great alternatives to Mello Mushroom which is always a good choice for us. We ordered a small 10" meat lover pizza and large salad. We wanted to share a salad and after asking the size of a small salad, went for the large garden salad with Ranch & Italian on the side. The salad came quickly and it was enough for 4 people. There were sliced red onions, mushrooms, parmesan cheese, and whole grape tomatoes on a bed of lettuce - Romaine I think. Michael found a less than good tomato & returned it (the single tomato) to the server. His idea was to help the place keep a better eye on their quality control, not to whine. The server and owners, I think, did take it seriously. We were offered more perfect tomatoes and a reduced bill. We declined both as we had plenty of food and a discount was not our goal.
The ranch dressing was very thick. Not the watered down stuff you sometimes get in restaurants. The Italian was good as well. We love raspberry vinaigrette & always sad when we don't find it as one of the options. I found the salad ingredients very fresh. No brown edges on the lettuce, fresh button mushrooms & the rest looked like it was prepped just for our order.
Then our pizza came. Sadly, this was the disappointment of the meal. I am more critical & detailed than I usually am because we think they want to be a better restaurant. The quality of the meat was not the best as it was too salty and bland. I am always suspect when I see sliced italian sausage. There was not a whole lot of meat which worked for us as we removed most to finish the pizza. The pizza crust was hand tossed but bland. I did not detect much if any spices in the crust or sauce. Adding hot pepper flakes helped. It was not so bad that we went away hungry but I don't think we will be back. Maybe another pizza combination is better. They do seem to use fresh produce so a vegetarian pizza may be their specialty.
We liked the people so we do wish them the very best. If we didn't care I would have given them 2 stars & skipped the write-up. They have some improvements to make but they also have a great location to do well. Take a critical look at what people see from the time they walk in. All tables should be wiped down so they are fresh & ready for the next people. Chairs on top of the tables to 'socially' distance diners is not the best way. Enough from me or I will sound like a cranky old lady. Best...
Read moreI ordered 2 pizzas extra crispy, salad, and wings for take out. I showed up at the time it was supposed to be ready but it was not. The employees seemed all lackadaisical about everything they were doing. They said we were waiting on wings, so I waited for 20 more mins but still not ready. I checked again, and they asked others for an eta but soon realized no one was actually cooking the wings. I asked them to just refund me for those and I would be on my way. That took another 10 mins to supposedly fix it, because no one knew how to do it, and I left. I got home and was missing the salad too. They gave me a container, that I had thought was salad, but was just plastic ware and napkins. So I called and asked for a refund on that too. They said they'd tell the manager and hung up on me without asking me my name. We went to eat the only thing I ended up getting, the pizzas, and they were floppy and under cooked. Wow, just wow. The next day I checked and no refunds for either thing, so I called again. I asked for the manager, but they were not there so I asked to leave my info to have them call back along with the details. Still never received a call or refund. I don't understand where customer service went. I don't expect much anymore, but seriously...can we just get what expensive stuff we pay for or refunded if we don't and may be a "sorry" would be nice. Will...
Read moreMany moons ago, hubby brought me home a slice of white pie from D'Al's downtown and I wanted that pizza closer to me. Like in my belly, delivered hot and fresh! Finally, they've come to Nexton and Uber Eats will bring it to me. The wait is over!
Their crust is perfect. Just the right thickness, crisp with magic crust-bubbles if you're lucky. We got 4 mediums and ate pizza for 4 days LOL. I wanted to get my lips around that amazing white pizza I remembered from downtown, so In Bianco was a must! Rich with silky ricotta, I wish it had a sprinkle of lemon zest. That's the only thing I can think to add or change, it is so simple yet indulgent.
I needed to try the balsamic chicken and Bleu cheese of the Get Gnarly, so a second pizza was necessary. And what a great choice! Tangy, tantalizing, irresistible. It brings you back for more.
Hubby got the Supreme, which lives up to its name as King of All Pizzas. Fantastic fresh toppings make this the perfect pizza. It is the quintessence of pizza.
Mushroom Madness was his second pick, and it was as promised. Loaded with earthy flavorful shrooms and brightened with roasted red pepper, it is second only to Mellow Mushroom's Holy Shiitake pie, which is a huge compliment.
Praise D'Al's, my new go-to for the best pizza someone will...
