Hugh-Baby's BBQ & Burger Shop — Restaurant in South Carolina

Ordered 3 burgers/sandwiches for myself since I finally made it to this location and without a busy drive-thru line! When you turn in from the main road, make sure you go all the way to the end to the 'Enter: Drive Thru' sign. If not, you'll miss the drive-thru order post.

Idk if my experiences were skewed because I was hungry af. But holey moley!!!! BEST burger + sandwiches I've had in my life!!!!! Way better than a petite frilled up one from a fancy $15-18 place. Idk why a few people have said the burger a la carte price was pricey ($6-9). My friend and i thought the price was on par for a fast casual joint.

why the BEST?? BECAUSE THE BREAD IS SO PILLLOWY SOFT. It's yellow, so I assume potato or brioche. In all my burgers/sandwiches I've had, the bun usually takes away from the meal. I was expecting a dry, stale, overfilling, tasteless bun that takes up 2/3 of my stomach. But this bun soaks up the seasonings and becomes really thin -- allowing you to enjoy+taste the middle patty/protein you've ordered! Normally I would order a lettuce bun to avoid a letdown, but I scarfed this right up!! Fried chicken - tender, light crispy breading, perf fried & batter seasoning + color tasted reminiscent of bojangles chicken batter 👀👍🏻 Fried fish - tender, light crispy breading, perf fried & seasoned way more than a basic fish fry cornmeal batter. Shroom+swiss - smoky and sweet bbq caramelized flavor, not the typical shroom+swiss flavor I've had at most places. Fries - crispy thin shoestrings. All in all -- DELISH.

Unsafe Food Handling and Poor Customer Service

I recently visited Hugh-Baby’s via the drive-thru, and my experience was disappointing, to say the least. After ordering a burger, I noticed that the woman who took my payment immediately returned to the food prep station without washing her hands or putting on gloves. She had just handled my card and proceeded to make my burger with unclean hands—a clear health and safety violation.

When I politely addressed the issue, her response was unprofessional. She rolled her eyes, remade the burger with visible attitude, and tossed it carelessly. Her response was rightfully upsetting, I went inside to speak to the manager about the poor customer service, only to be told that she herself was a manager. I bring to her attention she had an attitude and rolled her eyes — instead of apologizing. She agreed and nods her head.Her behavior was completely unacceptable, both in terms of food safety and customer interaction.

I’ve reported this incident to DHEC and corporate because food safety is non-negotiable, and no one should be treated this way when raising a valid concern. I won’t be returning, and I hope this restaurant takes the necessary steps to ensure this doesn’t happen to...

We were trying to find a place to eat, and happen to stumble on Hugh-Baby!

I had the BBQ and fries with a chocolate milkshake. The family friend I was with had a type of specialty burger and fries with a drink.

It was very expensive, about $30 plus he left a $12 tip. They don't actually serve you here, just bring the tray to your table.

The food was really good (other than the milkshake). It literally took us less than 5 minutes to eat this food. It was an insanely small portion, with no exaggerating. The burger, BBQ sandwich, and fries. My milkshake didn't come out in after we were done and it didn't even taste chocolate, but was a complete waste since it came out after the food and I had nothing to drink with my food.

I would definitely not recommend this place is you want your money's worth portion wise as we literally had to go downtown to Kickin Chicken not even an hour later. If you have money to blow and aren't hungry then come give it a try! It really stinks because the food was so...
