This is for the kings sushi on Dorchester road. I just found out there are 2 locations. I have been 2x in the last week. The food is very good. The service is fantastic. I wish there was a category to rate the management. The manager there recently is lazy. She sits with friends/ family? While they are there, or sits at the front and only gets up to seat people. See pictures.. she sat with them for the 2 hours we were there on Jan 1. I was there on Monday jan 1 and there were only 2 servers. The place was packed. Even some of the center tables were occupied. I eat there often, and it is usually not that crowded when i visit. TWO SERVERS! my server was Jenna. The other girl was wearing a scarf/ banana on her head. Both of them were awesome. I could tell they were overwhelmed though, and i noted that the manager (Lauren? Laura? I asked her name but forgot) was in a booth with her buddies for the 2 hours i was there. She came by one time to seat someone, but then had to make them wait so she could wipe the table. Instead of sitting with her friends/ family, she should have been clearing plates, cleaning tables and filling drinks AT THE VERY LEAST. The 2 servers were busting their butts to keep up. They each had at least 8-10 tables while my husband and i were there. I was there by myself this past saturday, reading and eating so i was in no rush, but i noticed the same manager doing nothing. 1st and 2nd picture was when we were there Monday, and the one at the front seat was when i went this past Saturday. My prior visits over the last year, I always saw the manager helping. Not sure of his name. I think Edward. But i haven't seen him recently. We need to go there when he is working bc he shows what a manager should really be.. brings food, checks on and talks with the customers, fills drinks, and just helps all around.

I will say I walked into this place with very mediocre expectations, about where you would peg an all you can eat sushi place. We were promptly seated, even as a party of 7. What is nice about this restaurant is that 4 of the people in our party had been snacking and were not super hungry so they were able to order a la carte items (at a VERY fair price as well!) The server was fairly slow to get our drink order and first round of food orders, I would say they were not that busy but there was another large party there of probably 10+ people that my server was also handling. I ordered a few seaweed salads which were flavorful, chilled and crisp exactly as they should be. House salad with ginger dressing was great, exactly like you’d get at your typical hibachi restaurant. Edamame portions were smaller than average but I’m okay with that since you can always order more. My kids devoured the chicken katsu and asked for more. Crab rangoons did have visible pieces of crab meat in them which is a first for me and huge bonus! Pork dumplings were crispy and flavorful. I ordered two of the sushi appetizers, the seared tuna and jalapeño yellowfin. I would say the jalapeño yellowfin was better, but not mindblowingly flavorful. The star of the show was definitely the sushi, as it should be. I ordered the dynamite, Richmond and some sort of avocado roll and none of them disappointed. Huge, generous portions and large pieces of fish. Tons of avocado. Overall, everything I ordered was very very good, well above my expectations. The service was slow, but I’m okay with that because when I eat I like to enjoy the company and treat it as an experience instead of a quick meal. This place will be added to our rotation of restaurants that we visit regularly and I’m thrilled to have found it.

If you want a fair to middling strickly controlled all you can eat pretend asian/ japanese sushi restaurant then this is the place for you. Im not against the premise of the place but being told you can eat all you want as long as you eat all we give you to be able to eat more, is anoying. Having a psuedo japanese restaurant run by non Asian workers and servers was also interesting. As you can see by my pictures, i have never had sushi sliced as thin as it was here. If you are on a keto diet then don't come here as they tell you that; "if you don't eat the rice given with the sushi 🍣 then you cant order more. But the fish was sliced so thin i didn't bother ordering more anyway. If you want sashimi, then it is 75cent extra charge on top of the 15 dollar plus charge for the lunch "all you can eat" charge. The pot stickers weren't half bad, and the spring rolls were just a little bigger than my finger. I really didn't want to order multiple 10 piece sushi rolls just to try an assortment of what they had to offer though. And the Korean hibachi beef was cut in such small pieces that i couldn't get it cooked less than well done little cubes the size of my little finger tip. I didn't want it with rice but was given rice anyway with the assumption that if i didn't eat the rice the ordering eas suspended. Would i go back? Yes, if i was in the mood to stuff myself on sushi overly full of rice. The menu was overly simplified with no main course pictures and i was discouraged from ordering anything other than the all you can eat psuedo buffet.

Every single time we have come in the food was good and keep in mind we’ve been going for 2 years, the tall male manager is always so sweet and attentive! Always helped when something was wrong or when there was even a hair in our food this past year ! but they were so helpful but you know this time was ridiculous. Girl who looks like the girl from bobs burgers decided to have the WORST attitude all because we asked to buy boxes. We bought boxes every single time for $5 each and we get it if the policy changes but we purposely eat a little and pay to bring some home, this lady was so rude and disrespectful after I kept apologizing and trying to figure out what we can do because I wasn’t paying $40 for my side of the meal if I only ate 6 pieces no. My husband paid and so did my friend but they were reluctant to. She even threatened cops! We were NOT screaming cursing not making a scene none of that we kept saying sorry and being adults even our waitress AGREED that this manager ALWAYS is disrespectful and rude I kept saying thank you hun and she just walked away with her nose up. Then was told to never return. We had ZERO problem paying and understanding because we work food industry! It’s the fact that it was so unprofessional and a few of them KNOW us because we always do the boxes. If we were told in the beginning there wouldn’t have been a problem. She’s the only one that is never nice has a stank face constantly and she’s a manager having to call another manager ? I’ve been a manager for years and never did that to customers. We came so much but now it’s a pleasure to not go back. Hopefully the GM will reach out to us we don’t want no refund none of that !! We just wanted some...
