I don’t usually do reviews ( good or bad) but I felt I must about this experience. First and foremost, I have given the owners of this business my faithful recurrent business for over 17 years. I am a single mom so I don’t go out to eat that often to save money, but when I do, we like to go to Lieu’s. This particular visit, I had taken my mom out to eat to celebrate some positive results from her medical tests. We ordered pepper steak and when we went to eat it, it was tough and hard to chew ( no big deal, as we just told our waiter Nepthali. He is wonderful and always makes sure we are taken care of. ) A few minutes later, I was on the phone taking a call from work when Peter, one of the owners, walks to our table. He sees I am on the phone but proceeds to yell at us in front of other customers, “ I just ate the pepper steak a few minutes ago and it was fine. It was not tough!” I said calmly back to him, “ Ours was tough. It may have just been a bad portion of the muscle that we got.” This would normally not be a problem in a restaurant as most are willing to attempt to fix it for you or somehow rectify the situation. The owners know us and know that I am not someone just trying to get” free food.” Nor did we expect that. We have used them often for years. Peter then proceeds to yell at us, “we are not going to be sending food back. We are not going to be doing this.” And then he just walks away, not allowing us the opportunity to speak any further. My mom and the other customers were flabbergasted at this exchange. I have noticed increasing erratic behavior from Peter but this was uncalled for and unwarranted. Unless he ate off of my plate, he wouldn’t be able to comment on whether it was a bad portion or not. To insinuate otherwise was calling us liars. Meanwhile, they had already taken my food to the back to dispose of it. He didn’t offer to make another one or let me choose something else. I work 12 hour nursing shifts so this was my only meal for the day. Ten minutes later, I got a bill for the pepper steak. I paid over $30 ( including drinks) for a meal that I didn’t even get to eat. I planned out the money to be able to take her out to eat for weeks, yet they took our food but still expected us to pay. We often see Peter yell and belittle employees in front of customers ( that’s a story for another day) but to treat a regular customer like this was uncalled for. This restaurant will continue to go downhill with management styles and customer treatment like this. Needless to stay, we will...
Read moreMessed up our order (even after the high school kid taking my order repeated it correctly) by serving us pork instead of shrimp. Called them to ask how they’d make it right. They wanted us to drive all the way back (30m one way) to pick up the new order. Asked if it was possible to get a credit for that dish for the next time we come in. Kid said owner would not allow it. Told them that we have a long history of ordering the same dishes and we weren’t trying to pull a fast one on them. Kid was just flustered and no help. When I started to get frustrated he just hung up! RIDICULOUS! Will be taking our business elsewhere from this point forward.
EDIT: 6:30 PM 1/23/2022 Just got a call from the owner of this location, David (has a southern accent). Rather than being apologetic for their mistake, he accused me of trying to take advantage of them and get a free meal. I told him that we have a history of ordering the exact same thing (we NEVER ONCE ordered pork in any order) but he kept accusing me of ordering pork.
The phone was on speaker phone when I ordered and multiple people heard me order shrimp, and heard the kid taking the order repeat shrimp. Kid must be related to David because he got so offended and butt hurt over this review.
Rather than being apologetic to loyal customers he was throwing baseless accusations and let his temper get the best of him. I would've been more than happy to change the original review to 5 stars if he made things right, but now I will make sure to tell everyone I know in Greenville to avoid the location on Pelham.
What a joke. Take your business to the Lieu's on Woodruff road which is not affiliated with this one, and has much better customer service (as well as experience because it is the...

My wife and I visited Lieu’s Asian Bistro last night, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! We hadn’t been in a while, but from the moment we walked in, we were promptly seated and reminded why we’ve always enjoyed this gem.
I wasn’t feeling 100%, so I opted for a ginger ale with bitters and a water with three lemons (my go-to drink), while my wife had sweet tea. We started with the Miso and Wonton soups alongside the Spring Rolls, which were perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. My wife noted a surprise bit of chicken in her miso soup but still found it delicious.
For our entrées, my wife chose the Pan-Fried Chilean Sea Bass with ginger, scallions, and a sweet soy glaze over a bed of spinach, served with white rice. She said it was cooked to absolute perfection—easily the best in the Upstate! I had the Shrimp & Scallops with snow peas, shiitake mushrooms, and a delicate white wine sauce. It was equally phenomenal.
We were so satisfied that we had no room for dessert, though my wife has her sea bass leftovers to enjoy later. I had only a little left on my plate because it was just that good.
The service was prompt and attentive, making our dining experience seamless. My only minor suggestion would be a decor refresh to brighten the interior and update the dining area, but I know that’s a big undertaking.
The food, however, is perfection and needs no changes. Lieu’s remains a hidden culinary treasure—fabulous food and a fabulous...
