I DoorDash sometimes and dropped off an order near this place. The name caught my attention and I saw that they have very good reviews, so I decided to give it a shot.
I came in with a friend on a weekday morning. I'm still new to the area, and where I'm from, breathing is expensive. Bluffton/HHI is a little cheaper, so I was a bit shocked at the menu prices. I cannot allow myself to spend $10 on a crepe or $5 on a small mocha. I kept it simple and ordered a coffee with espresso. My friend got a chai and the Ham Jam panini. The total was just under $20.00.
My coffee with espresso was pretty flat; nothing special or different in terms of taste or quality. Did not see milk on the condiment bar; just single serve creamers. That was disappointing because whole milk would have balanced out the bold espresso.
My friend's chai was pretty good (I did taste it myself), but she said the sandwich was inedible. I do not eat ham, so I cannot comment too much. I did taste the bread, which I thought was good. But apparently the jam tasted like Smuckers and the pairing with Sriracha and brie brought down the sandwich. I did see there was plenty of meat and a healthy serving of brie. So at least they give you value for your buck.
In all fairness, we were asked by a staff member if we were satisfied with the food. My friend could have piped up, but I think she did not want to hurt any feelings. This is a local business and I could see the people working enjoyed their job. But the service was slow and the menu, while having a list of unique dishes, is way out of budget for the working class person.
Response to Business's Review
Normally, I would not reply to a business owner's response to my review, but I was told to "speak up." So here I speak.
I am not a business owner, so I cannot imagine the thick skin needed to take criticism without feeling personally attacked. However, you can accept it with grace if you choose.
I did admit in my initial review that my friend should have spoken up. Also, I complimented the taste of her beverage. I would give this place a 3.5 based on the chai alone, but Google does not allow partial star reviews as far as I know.
If you are a business that serves coffee and you have milk to offer, leave it out for customers to use. Do not expect them to ask you for milk. That makes no sense and it is burdensome on the customer.
I don't know why you say the food was received in 12 minutes. Do you know that because you timed yourself? Do you have some kind of proof? Made to order is fine in a sit-down restaurant. Waiting more than a few minutes for a sandwich at a cafe is irritating.
Just do better ... or don't. Either way, I will not be revisiting your store and I will not recommend...

Well, slap my grandma and call me sugah, because Odd Birds in Bluffton, South Carolina, is the place to be if you love coffee, cookies, and good ol’ Southern charm! I walked in expecting a regular ol’ cup of joe, and I walked out wondering if I had just experienced caffeine-induced enlightenment.
First things first, let’s talk about their hazelnut coffee—y’all, it was smoother than a buttered biscuit on a Sunday morning. Rich, nutty, and just the right amount of sweetness, this cup of heaven had me considering legally changing my name to Hazelnut just so I could feel closer to it.
And then there was the honey lavender latte. Now listen, I’m a simple person—I don’t normally drink things that sound like they belong in a high-end spa. But honey, this latte tasted like it was brewed by angels who moonlight as beekeepers. Sweet, floral, and just fancy enough to make me feel like I had my life together.
Now, I must address the chocolate chip cookie because it did something to my soul. That cookie was so good, I had a full-on existential crisis halfway through eating it. It was warm, melty, and had just the right balance of crisp edges and soft, gooey middle. If loving this cookie is wrong, I don’t wanna be right.
The atmosphere? Cozy. The service? Sweeter than grandma’s pecan pie. The only downside? I can’t move in and live here. If you find yourself in Bluffton and don’t stop by Odd Birds, bless your heart—you’re missing out on...
Read morePlease don't listen to Fatima Brown's review. It does not accurately portray this gem of a cafe. That said, their food and service have always been excellent the times I have visited. The value for the money is excellent. They make almost everything in-house, sauces, jams, even the meats. Everything is custom-made for each order. Change the lettuce, no problem. Change the cheese, no problem... I have to eat gluten-free. Their gf crepes are great and made to order and large! Baked goods are yummy. Wish they had more variety of gf items. They are a bit out of the way, and they don't advertise, but to me, all is worth it. Greetings happen immediately. Continously checking on you and chatting. Wait time is minimal for handmade. There are no downsides. Prices are fine for what you are getting. More breakfast options would be wonderful. I don't drink coffee, so I can't comment, but lots of other drink alternatives... Parking is out front. I highly recommend this cute...
