We went here on a whim when we discovered there was no food in our fridge. Fortunately, despite it being a weekend, they were able to fit us in without a reservation -- not recommended, get a reservation.
The night started off inauspiciously when my son found a bug in his soda. It's the kind of thing that could happen in even the best place, and they were clearly embarrassed by this. It seemed to have snuck in via the ice.
We ordered the Scallops over Fig Risotto appetizer. The scallops were grilled perfectly, and the risotto was delicious, but I felt the scallops had too much salt to enjoy completely. So far, we were not off to a great start.
But then came the entrees. The Mediterranean Trout is one of the best meals I've had anywhere. The balance of flavors in the greens and the trout was perfect. My son had the Shrimp Fra Diabolo over linguini. It was predictable but prepared perfectly -- if you order this you will get what you asked for, done expertly.
For dessert the Hazelnut Creme Cake was delicious. It was light and not overwhelming at all, with a perfect balance of nutty and sweet.
The service throughout was professional and prompt.
So despite a few hiccups at the start, I will give this place five stars. The place exuded excellence and competence, I think it is safe to call the few complaints outliers. I...
Read moreI dined at Mulberry Street Trattoria last night. Let me start by saying that the food was fine. That said, a few things were not fine.
Caesar salad was a very large portion of fresh lettuce with a few pieces of pecorino. Dressing was listed on the menu, but not included on the salad. Penne a la Vodka tasted OK. I had shrimp added to the entree. At a price of $8 for 4 shrimp, I would ask that next time they be served without the tails. The heavy pink sauce made the tails very difficult to see and hard to remove. We were seated next to the open kitchen allowing a clear view of the back of the house. I watched the staff for the entire 1.5 hours we were there and never saw anyone that was touching the food wearing gloves or wash their hands.
Again, the food was fine. 3 of the 4 of us thought our food tasted OK. However, due to the things listed above and the extremely slow service, I don’t think we will...
Read moreWe've been dining here since my kids were born and they're now teenagers. They've been our family favorite of the Low Country the whole time. This family Italian eatery, is as New York Italian as it gets. Chef Joe and Alyssa make a mean traditional Italian dish . The tappenade, olive oil and warm bread are reasons alone to visit..We've indulged in all the favorites, lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo, Caesar Salad with Bluffton's tastiest homemade Caesar dressing, Chicken parmesan, and don't even get me started with the Italian Wedding soup . I could go on all day with the menu.. The Service is impeccable and friendly while the meals are satisfying and reasonably priced considering the gourmet New York fair you can expect to enjoy. I cant say enough about this local gem. Alyssa, Ruth and Joe, provide an experience that will keep you coming back for years! 5...
