Old South Restaurant — Restaurant in Hilton Head Island

We were looking for a nice place to sit and eat for our last morning on HHI. All the places further on 278 were super busy, and we were ready to hit the road. This came up as an option, and as it was literally on our route, I said go for it. Well... it was amazing! Very low key, instant seating, and super yummy food! The menu isn’t extensive, but when you’re looking for eggs, bacon, sausage, and toast... well it’s hard to beat this place. The best part of all? The view of the golf course is lovely! No need to worry about fitting in or being too fancy, Old South made us feel...

Not the restaurant it used to be by a long shot. So sad it isn't the quality, hours, or previous menu it used to be. Not sure if the previous chefs are participating, but doubt it. Very average food, looking like it wants to be more 'relevant ' or 'up to date', or 'modern'...not sure. So sad. They used to have the best breakfast in Beaufort County, and other items were total quality as well. We've been waiting over a year for them to reopen. And then this. Best wishes to them, but we won't return for this. So...

I have a condition that doesn't digest certain foods properly. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich without bread (I'm unable to digest wheat). The server did an extraordinary job making sure the chicken was prepared properly. Due to the sides also incompatible with my digestive system, she made the lettuce, tomato, and cheese normally on the chicken, a delightful salad with a dressing I could eat.

The service was wonderful as well...
