Kung Fu Cantina: A Culinary Catastrophe (Avoid at All Costs)
Kung Fu Cantina, despite its proximity to my home (a mere 5 miles), proved to be a dining experience best forgotten. From the lackluster food to the agonizingly slow service, this establishment is one I will absolutely not be returning to, and I strongly advise you to steer clear. My meal started on a sour note with the Pan Thai, which arrived cold and utterly tasteless. It was disturbingly reminiscent of something you'd find in a cheap instant noodle package, lacking any flavor. The General Tso Chicken fared no better. It was served cold, hard, and virtually devoid of the promised sauce. Each bite was a struggle, further solidifying my disappointment. Adding insult to injury, we waited a torturous half hour for our entrees to arrive. Throughout this agonizing wait, we also had to repeatedly request water, a simple request that somehow required asking a total of three time. The combination of cold, poorly prepared food, incredibly slow service, and a complete lack of attention to basic customer needs created an utterly unpleasant dining experience. In short, Kung Fu Cantina is not worth your time or money. I suggest that you find another dining option in the area. This is one restaurant I will be actively avoiding...
Read moreI love this restaurant! I really hope they do well and continue to have good business. Their food is something special and the flavors are unreal. People will be surprised that their sushi is better than really any other place in Bluffton. Do not be shy and try their sushi roll that has plantains and crushed peanuts... it is delicious. Last night, we tried their sushi roll that was on special and the flavors were on point - cream cheese, spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, some type of thai chili sauce, wrapped in soy bean paper. So good! We did the street corn fried rice and they allowed us to top it with sesame chicken. The presentation is beautiful, but the taste was unreal. One of my favorites, the Birria Bao Bun, is delicious. The soft bao bun with rich, melt in your mouth birria is a 10/10. The consome has great flavors and it balances well with the cucumber salad as a refreshing side for a heavy meal.
You have to come here. Bring friends because you will want to try everything. There is nothing else like it around here and we need to keep them in business! Too many restaurants close down and this one needs to stay.
If you like a good bar, their cocktails are...
Read moreMy wife and I came in for her birthday dinner. We both got the birria noodle bowl, chimichanga sushi roll and ginger margaritas. Service was great as we were the only people in the restaurant for the second half of our visit. The noodle bowl we ordered came with a super dry old looking meat on top. Really had me wondering if it had been cooked that morning and left out all day until it was served to us at 7pm. Neither of us could finish the noodle bowl and we both ended up getting sick. We went for a walk on the beach after and I got very sick and had to spend some time making loud noises hunched over a public toilet. Everything came right up. I paid over $120 for a meal we didnât like and that made us sick. I would...
