San Jose Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in South Carolina

Worst Mexican food experience in memory. I love the San Jose on Hardscrabble and hoped this would be equivalent... It was not. When we went the place was almost empty so no excuse for really lousy service.

Salsa had a babyfood consistency and was extremely bland. Waitress was very inattentive. I finished my drink before ordering (it took a long time for her to take our food order). I wasn't able to get a refill until I got my check to leave. I was really thirsty the whole time

My meal didn't even arrive until 15 minutes after everyone else had finished eating. Kept trying to flag waitress down but Everytime she saw me trying to flag her down she would quickly disappear and hide.

Chili Releno was basically just cheese sauce. That was the smallest damn pepper I've ever seen. No exaggeration I had a grape sized piece of pepper... An equivalent portion of meat and the rest was a really bland cheese sauce. I essentially ended up with just cheese, I like cheese but if I want plain cheese I can go to Publix and buy a block.

Chicken Quesadilla was equally disappointing. As I mentioned earlier, I wasn't even able to get it until long after everyone else had finished eating. It was cold, bland, and rather underfilled.

Overall this was an extremely disappointing experience and I shall not be returning.

Go to the San Jose on Hardscrabble instead. It's not far away, drive the five minutes for a better experience. I've been many times to that location and always have had a five star experience there.

My husband and I have been frequent customers here to where we would be in 2 or 3 times a week. The food and service is great,to the point where we gave one of our waiters a $50 tip cause he was so great. I am 7 months pregnant and decided to have my baby shower there. Made our reservation for 20 people in their party room 2 weeks before the shower. Was told we could set up the decorations ect 30 minutes early. I called them again the day before the shower to make sure we still have the reservation, was told that everything was good and that they would have the room cleared and the tables out together. We get there 30 minutes early and thr whole room was packed of people. Spoke to the owner/manager and said they would try to get the people out by 2, the staff was rude to us, gave us dirty looks because my husband and I where upset. Finally its 2 and they room is still packed, I went to the back and spoke to the manager and he told me there was nothing he could do. So we ended up having to have the shower at my parents house, had to have everyone leave, ended up buying pizzas and other food to accommodate my guests. The staff as well as the manager handled the situation poorly and as a frequent customer I thought we would of been treated differently but I guess not, especially since I was bringing them 20 paying customers. But unfortunately my husband and I will no longer eat at San Jose ever again which is sad because that was our favorite place. Y'all just lost some...

Placed a Togo order over the phone and was told it’d be ready in 10 minutes so I left in a hurry to get there. Upon arriving 15 minutes later, it took at least another 15 minutes to be served. They seemed busy.. yes, but when I was finally greeted I was treated almost like a number. They seemed rather frustrated with me for giving them business. On top of that, one of the items I ordered was a chicken quesadilla but was charged and given a cheese quesadilla instead. Between all of this I decided to call and pass my experience and thoughts to the manager. The manager, Raul, was very argumentative, raised his voice and was very disrespectful. I wasn’t looking for anything in return just wanted them to hear my feedback from my perspective, instead Raul was very rude, only proving my point earlier in regards to my treatment in the restaurant. He did not even offer any apology but rather Raul attempted to hang up on me instead of “listening to any more of this.” 0/10 would not recommend this location at all.
