I'm a wordsmith of sorts and for some reason, the name of this restaurant didn't at first appeal. Do not let that stop you from visiting this most wonderful visit to this 'delicious' and WELL deserved THANK YOU. Yes, the pasta is fresh. And I love it when restaurants don't arrange but actually 'cook' and not assemble and when the items on the menu are not just added to take up space. Spaghetti Westurn has that wonderful image of Tuco from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly on the wall and does not mind taking 'Italian' very seriously but at the same time making fun of the classic fancy-shmancy names you often see in a gourmet level Italian eatery.
They keep it down to earth, smart, so polished and professional and lets be honest. The bolognese with wagonwheel pasta (the Hog Tie) is excellent, the beet salad (Six Beet Under) which is beets 6 ways with the creamiest goat cheese infused with truffles, excellent. The favorite crusty bread (Crispy Grilled Bread) with garlicky oil and a schmear of garlic butter along the rim of the plate... excellent. And the creamy pasta tagliatelle (White Lightning) ... (please add chicken you won't regret it) is again... excellent.
We ordered 2 flourless chocolate cakes (Campfire Cake) to share with our party of 3. And I love flourless chocolate cake. I am sure this will please almost everyone. For me, I tasted a ton of cocoa powder... and I'm really picky about chocolate. When I make hot cocoa its actually belgian bittersweet chocolate melted into whole raw milk, so I prefer the fat that makes chocolate more creamy. But this flourless was really good, and the whipped cream was very very light and floaty. In other words, I'm just picky. So you can take it on my advice, you will likely think 'excellent' on that one too.
Thank you for making our pre Fathers Day meal special.
Make sure you plan accordingly as this restaurant is closed on Sunday like so many are, and smartly open only for dinner 4-8 Tuesday through Saturday. SUNDAY AND MONDAY CLOSED. If you can work with that you will be richly rewarded and at a very nice price. When I quoted price spent... that was 2 non alchoholic drinks, 2 apps, 3 entrees and 2 desserts. Tab $125. So if you don't normally order apps and dessert, it will more like $25 a person. But this is a very gourmet clean presentation. It's worth it.
Atmosphere: Wide open, no real nooks that feel secluded or private per se, but that was okay for us. It's hardly a deal breaker and the seats were comfortable enough. This place gets BUSY so you might want to make a reservation. We were only able to get a table because we came early enough and they...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Spaghetti Westurn in Greenville, SC, and the experience was nothing short of fantastic. From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the stage for a delightful evening.
What truly stood out was the commitment to homemade goodness evident in every aspect of the meal. The bolognese, a true benchmark for Italian cuisine, was an absolute triumph. Rich, flavorful, and expertly crafted, it showcased the chef's dedication to quality ingredients and authentic preparation.
The arancini balls were a revelation. Each bite was a symphony of flavors and textures – a perfect balance of crispy exterior and creamy, well-seasoned interior. It's rare to find arancini executed so flawlessly, and Spaghetti Westurn nailed it.
Beyond the outstanding dishes, the overall service was impeccable. Attentive and friendly staff added to the positive experience, ensuring that our needs were met without being intrusive.
In terms of ambiance, the restaurant effortlessly blended a cozy, rustic feel with a modern touch. It created an environment where one could savor both the food and the moment.
Overall, my visit to Spaghetti Westurn was a memorable culinary journey. The combination of exceptional homemade fare, highlighted by the outstanding bolognese and arancini, alongside the welcoming atmosphere and top-notch service, easily earns this establishment a solid five stars. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic and delightful Italian dining experience in...
Read moreWe went out to dinner as a family. Excited to try a new place. Reservations ARE A MUST!!! We walked in. Took a while for us to be greeted and there were 3 other tables at the time. Our waitress seated us and greeted us with a smile. She was very nice. We had a clarification in our order so I went up to the waitress to ensure there wasn’t an issue when we got it out. When you go up the the bar (where our waitress was at) you can see the kitchen. It was the owner and what appeared to be there very young son (mid teens) working behind the counter in the kitchen helping out. He was rudely yelling at his waitress about something. It was very uncomfortable. She handled herself so professionally. I can tell she was flustered. Then there was another waitress. Pretty sure it was the wife of the chef/owner. Food was good. However, the chef comes out and literally chewing our same waitress off and yelling at her about having too many reservations made. He was clearly overwhelmed!!! That was unprofessional. We did not appreciate that one but. I felt HORRIBLE for our waitress. Like who does that?! This place needs to hire more staff and clearly another chef since he can’t handle it. We left stressed and my husband was really stressed. When you spend 100+ on a meal you want a good experience. No drama. I’m not sure if we will be back because of what we saw. Food was good. But it definitely made our experience sour. Don’t be cheap. Hire more staff and...
