Goodness gracious, the fried food here is delicious and the owner is one of my most favorite people in the Inlet/Myrtle beach areas. Talk about a local favorite! The kitchen in the truck is immaculate, the oil is always fresh, and the prices are great. The fish (flounder and grouper) is always PERFECTLY lightly fried so it’s still moist, flaky, and falling apart, the shrimp are always plump, and the potato chip fries are to die for! We visit our family that are locals at least once a month and make it a point to eat at this funky little Fish Shak at least once while we are in town. Last time we went my in-laws were celebrating their anniversary. We decided to go to Myrtle Beach for a 2 day trip and because of prior plans we had for Saturday Night’s dinner, we weren’t going to make the Shak in time for close. I messaged the owner and he offered to open for a private party just for us on Sunday! We showed up with balloons in tow, ordered our lemonades, butter beers, drinks, combo plates, shrimp plates, grouper plates and extra chips and we ate at the cute little tiki picnic tables set up in the parking lot. My nephew who is allergic to eggs even got to eat with us because the Fish Shak keeps a gluten and egg-free batter on hand because they ROCK! Even the older members of our family (There were 9 of us total) were happy with their food and they’re hard to please.... Honestly. They require their food to be mouth-burning hot, it has to be brought to the table as soon as it’s ready so it doesn’t have a chance to cool down at all, it can’t be dry, overcooked, or rubbery, and there needs to be LOTS of sauce and napkins. They admittedly have a difficult time finding “perfection” when they go out to eat and The Fish Shak NAILED it! Eat here! You won’t be disappointed. Promise!

Road-trip to Pawley’s Island Beach for an afternoon of sun, sand and swimming got us hankering for some seafood. Not dressed for dinner dining got us googling for a nearby food truck that led us to The Fish Shak. Located in their new location at Carolina Food Truck Park @ 513 Courtfield Drive, Murrells Inlet along side the Hampton Inn. Fish Shak is seafood made to order with a nice selection of combo baskets of shrimp, flounder, grouper and Mahi-Mahi, tacos, sandwiches, sliders, soups and sides. Our combo XL was a nice serving of 2 lightly battered and seasoned flounder fillets and 6 jumbo shrimp fried to golden perfection with a side of tartar sauce. A heaping of thin potato chip style hand-cut fries and a dill ranch dipping sauce. A side order of hush puppies and we were in dining bliss. Staff were very personable and friendly taking the time to talk with us. The only drawback is the lack of seating with a single table preoccupied. Tables had been ordered but are on back order. But not to be daunted in our pursue of a near perfection outing we wrangled free our beach chairs and balancing take out containers on our laps we took up ownership of part of the parking lot. Dining be damned.

First time visit today after reading reviews and family wanting to come. Was around 10-15 minutes away from our hotel. Honestly, it was fine, but I would not return. My husband and I shared the XL grouper finger basket that comes with homemade chips, dill ranch and remoulade. The fish was hot and fresh, but the breading was just …. Fine. Nothing particularly tasty or flaky/crispy. It wasn’t bad, just fine. The homemade chips were quite good. The dips were also just fine. Ranch tastes like store bought will dill on top. For sharing, was really more of a snack/very small lunch size. The woman working at the truck was nice. The location is…not great in that the surrounding views are just businesses and parking lots. Overall, would not return of my own accord.

Love this place! Thanks to the great reviews we decided to check it out. The food does not disappoint. Locally sourced fish, shrimp and all handmade ingredients made with extra love. Deena who runs the truck is so great, she gives awesome service, great recommendations and believes in her product. Now i do too!! Came to the beach for my birthday, check.... had amazing local seafood, check! Great little food truck off the beaten path, nice little picnic table to eat at.... was so grateful for a sunny day to enjoy every last bite. I had the shrimp basket with homemade chips, shrimp dipped in her homemade remoulade and chips in her home made dill ranch.... YUM YUM YUM..... hubby had the Flounder Fish Sandwich basket and was just as pleased. No need to look any further.... this will be our go to when in the area. Thanks Deena! Keep up the great cooking!
