Update 9/29/2024: Went here on Monday September 23rd 2024 with my family and friends as part of our South Carolina Vacation. We came here last year, and this year came back. We sat outside this time, and I can't remember the name, but basically J Peters Bar and Grill has 2 parts- the inside, and the outside, which is located near the water, called something else, but has the same menu and drinks. It was a beautiful day to sit outside, and we all sat on a picnic table. Our server brendan, served us, and he was very nice, and made sure to check on us constantly. We started with 3 titos with sprite, and waters for everyone. We then ordered our entrees, our family friend actually suggested the Prime Rib Steak sandwich, and all 3 of us got that! I got mine with fries, my mom got it with salad, and my dad got it with the loaded mash potatoes which are good. other people in our party got new england clam chowder, with a grilled chicken, and a caesar salad. We enjoyed our steak sandwiches, and some of us brought it home with us. server did a good job checking on us constantly to make sure we were good. and man, we were great! Got the check in a timely manner, paid via credit card, and left a cash tip. Hope to be back soon! Went here on Wednesday July 19th 2023 with my family and a friend as a party of 5 during our Myrtle Beach Vacation. First we had to wait, so we headed outside to the other place's next door bar, while we waited for a table. Having a drink outside is so nice! Finally after a while, our table was ready. We sat near the marshwalk entrance outside in a corner of the restaurant. Our server was very nice. For food, i ordered the salmon with sweet potato fries, my mom ordered a steak, my aunt ordered a steak, my dad ordered a sandwich, and my mom's friend ordered a steak sandwich. Each food dish comes with a salad with honey mustard and bacon, and a delicous croissant. The dressing for the salad is unique and different, but it sure tasted good! Only complaint i would say is that my server should have mentioned that the sweet potato fries are like waffle fries, which was alright, as they still tasted good, just would have been great to know. i enjoyed my salmon as i ate all of it. the other people in my party also enjoyed their food as well. We then paid with credit card, and left a cash tip. We exited through the marshwalk and literally sat outside the restaurant. Overall great food, and would be back again if we are ever...
Read moreAwful on many levels. I have eaten there once before and it was fine. Today I ordered a mixed greens salad with tomatoes and blackened ahi tuna. The lettuce was white iceberg centers, not a green in sight, just a big bowl of white stems. They sprinkled a few tiny chopped tomato pieces on top. The tuna was supposed to be cooked medium with a pink center. It was over cooked and dry, hard like a hockey puck and actually cold! Obviously cooked a day or two ahead and then they attempted to warm it up. My friend also ordered salad and got all iceberg. Not a green leaf, carrot or tomato in sight! Neither of us ate. The waitress noticed and asked if we wanted the manager, so we said yes, we thought they should know. After a good while she came back and said the manager was too busy to speak with us but offered 10% off. On food we did not eat. We told her that was not acceptable so she asked the manager again and was told my meal would be free. What about my friend? She didn’t eat her iceberg bowl either. Finally, after the third trip and a good 20 mins of embarrassing back and forth, she agreed not to charge my friend either. Neither of these salads should have left the kitchen looking like they did. Someone eating nearby had a delicious looking bowl of greens, so they didn’t run out. When the waitress saw we weren’t eating she could have immediately replaced the salads instead of creating a 20 minute saga. After all that we left without eating anything. When a customer says the food is inedible and not what they ordered, a manager should immediately appear in person to rectify the situation.
I’m not really sure what this restaurant is trying to do. If they think they’re a fine dining place, why am I sitting at an orange picnic table? If it’s a casual place, why is a sandwich $17? Why is the food not made as described on the menu? How could you take an hour to warm up a precooked tuna steak? Both times I’ve been there it took a good 20 minutes for anyone to even bring out a menu. Staff was inside chatting and there’s no host. We waited almost an hour for food we couldn’t eat, and left hungry. Every other place on the Marshwalk is better than this poorly run, sloppy and overpriced place. It was so much better when it was Bubba’s Love Shak. Eat...

I would like to start by saying that J Peters Grill & Bar is in a beautiful location with lovely decor. The hostess who greeted us was absolutely amazing, and if it weren’t for her, we would have left shortly after arriving. Her warm and welcoming demeanor was the highlight of our visit.
Unfortunately, our experience with the bartender, Miss Barbra, was disappointing. From the moment we sat at the bar, her attitude was noticeably different from how she treated other patrons. She never once offered us water, though we watched her do so very politely for the party seated after us. She eventually asked my wife if she wanted water but never extended the same courtesy to me. When our food arrived, Barbra didn’t check on us or ask if we needed anything at all. We felt completely ignored.
Meanwhile, Barbra seemed very engaged with the party that sat after us, who, coincidentally, had also mentioned working in the restaurant industry. My wife and I own a restaurant as well, so we found it both disappointing and ironic that she would show preferential treatment to a group seated after us while blatantly neglecting us.
Thankfully, the wonderful hostess came over to check on us again, going out of her way to make sure we were doing okay. We were so impressed by her kindness that I tipped her $25, simply for showing the courtesy that should have come from our bartender.
Based on Barbra’s lack of attention and unprofessional service, we will not be returning to this location. It was a truly disappointing experience, especially considering how well we were treated by the hostess. I hope others don’t encounter the same subpar service we received, and I sincerely hope that management addresses this issue to prevent future guests from...
