We have been fans of Tolli’s since they first opened. Not a month went by without us ordering from or eating at the restaurant. We didn’t really mind the lengthy wait times or the pricey pizzas because the ingredients were so fresh and the crust was sooo delicious. Appetizers, desserts, etc all tasted so authentic and as transplants from the Northeast we knew we could count on enjoying the same quality of food we were so accustomed to for many, many decades. Our last 2 experiences at Tolli’s have been disappointing to say the least and our concern is that either changes have been made to the quality of the ingredients used, the current cook staff are just not very attentive or have been told to skimp. Several months ago I placed a takeout order and had to wait 75 minutes beyond when my online messages indicated it would be ready. I am aware that getting restaurant help has been a challenge for many area establishments so I did not fret. It was not worth the wait though as the hot appetizer I ordered had apparently sat on the completed order rack for those 75 minutes and was, as a result, ice cold as I waited for the pizza which barely had any ingredients/toppings on it so was rather disappointing. It also tasted rather bland. Never the less we decided to give it another try a few nights ago. My order turned out incorrect and when I returned it I had to show my online receipt to prove it was wrong as their receipt was different than mine. Once again, however, after a lengthy wait for the reorder, the pizza was not good. The crust was paper thin and flavorless and the toppings were sparse, at best. We also noticed that the crust was now much smaller than the box so closer to personal size at best and the box actually felt like it was virtually empty in terms of heft. We are quite disappointed, to say the least and sincerely hope that Anthony can right the ship down the road as we want the Tolli’s of 3 years ago back. Once we hear that said ship has been righted we will consider being...
Read moreTook my boyfriend here for his birthday last night. Worst restaurant experience we’ve ever had. As soon as we walked through the door I noticed the bartender and host looked stressed. We were sat and our waiter came to take our drink order. When he came back with those, we ordered an appetizer of garlic pesto knots and the special app of friend zucchini flowers. Mind you, we sat and waited for those apps for nearly half an hour. A table of four had come in after us and was given their appetizers way before us. I asked the food runner, a brown haired, braid wearing girl, where our apps were because we ordered ours way before the table next to ours did. She got super snippy with me and said, “I’m not your waiter, I will have to ask him.” “I know you’re not my waiter. Please go get him for us.”, I replied. When the waiter came, he remarked, “I understand you have issues?” LMFAO! “I indeed have an issue with our long wait for our non-existent appetizers. And I have an issue with your food runner with a very unhelpful attitude.” Waiter said, “I’m sorry, I’ll see what the holdup is…” When the waiter came back to our table after talking to the kitchen, he stated, “The chef needs to make more batter for the zucchini flowers, that was the holdup.” I call BS on that. He forgot to put in our order. I’m pretty convinced of this because when we finally got our apps, he told the gentleman at the table next to us, “Uh, sorry sir, I seemed to have forgotten to put your entree order in….do you mind telling me what it was?” That was it for me. Before the waiter could leave our area, I asked him to cancel our entree orders and bring us the check. The waiter appeared stoned with this dreamy, empty look on his face, moving at a snails pace and the snappy little food runner girl needs way better restaurant training than they’ve received. We are never going back. If I could give a zero...
Read more5/10/24- Waitress ans staff have improved tremendously. Highly recommend going in to eat.
First time customer- I got the Caprese Americano- almost 12" The young man at the counter was very nice, the woman on the dessert side was not friendly. I couldn't even ask what the dessert was as she wouldn't make eye contact. When two customers are there and you are still waiting on someone to order, at least acknowledge and try a little multitasking. I waitresses in NY for 20 years and you have to at least make eye contact. So I went to the other side to ask what the dessert was and how much as I had already ordered my pizza. It was a cake that looked amazing and probably was, but $10...no. That's a little steep for a piece of cake. Cake of the Day (Wild Olive- $10 Almond cake layered with coconut, chocolate ganache, vanilla buttercream, sliced almonds, finished with a ganache drizzle). Pizza was outstanding in crust and flavor. Again, if I was serving several, it’s too pricey. I enjoyed it just for me, but probably would not get too often. I knocked of two stars- One for pricing. It’s just not in line. One for the unfriendly woman on dessert side. I am glad that we are getting more places on the island. Hopefully you look at your sales, repeat business and do some adjustments on pricing. Especially on the desserts as they are not gourmet. Best of...
