Terrible experience.. We stopped in about 45min early to get a reservation at Minero for the first time. I asked if my 10lb dog was ok on the covered patio and was told yes so I booked. The trouble started after 10 minutes of being seated. First the waitress came over saying dogs actually were not allowed on the covered patio. I informed her that I specifically came in and confirmed they were with the hostess less than an hour earlier. The manager then came by and informed they were still training staff and the hostess was incorrect with zero understanding of their mistake. I moved our dog off patio seating area and the waitress started taking the order but struggled and seemed bewildered and/or overwhelmed. Food came out at different times and honestly wasn't anything impressive. I ordered the $44.00 bone in pork chop only to find the it was primarily gristle. The waitress was almost non-existent for the meal with no water refills or asking if we needed anything else. Admittedly, I was not happy at this point but it actually got worse.. We were a group of thirteen and had to split the checks. I told the waitress what was on my bill but she missed one. Realizing one was missed she would just add the last plate of food on a separate ticket but tried charging $72.00 for a chicken burrito and water. I told her this was incorrect and she argued that it wasn't. I then asked to speak with a manager. No manager ever showed but the waitress did come back and acknowledge the $72.00 burrito we incorrect. In the end, staff has a long way to go including management. Food not great ā¹ļø. Will never come back.
I hate to give such a terrible review and normally overlook issues but this was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe went to Mineroās on a Sunday night before going out to see Christmas lights. There were not a lot of other patrons there. The parking lot leaves a lot to be desired. It is not paved, extremely dark and tricky to maneuver through.
We at first chose to sit inside until we realized we were just outside of the kitchen and the space was very small and felt confining. We then asked to be moved to their deck area. The deck area has plastic covers over open areas that I assume are open when it is light and nice out. We were sat at a 2-top table that was extremely small even though there were plenty of larger tables available. The plastic chairs were very uncomfortable.
We ordered the three amigo appetizer which included queso, salsa, guacamole and chips. This one appetizer took up the entire table (the previous comment of a very small table). While the sampler dips were very good, there wasnāt very much for the price paid ($14)
For main entrees I had chicken fajitas ($26) and my husband had the Minero double cheeseburger ($17).
The fajitas were very good and the homemade corn and flour tortillas were delicious. There was cabbage instead of lettuce which seemed odd but surprisingly worked out well.
Direct quote from the husband:The chorizo burger was quite tasty and cooked to perfection -- just moist enough without being wet and the bun was still crisp. I thoroughly enjoyed the cheese filling however; the meat didnāt really have the expected chorizo flavor. Then again, many hot sauces were available so I could spice it up however I wanted. All-in-all, Iād...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis business is a wonderful addition to Johns Island. The property has a somewhat unimposing street presence, so you may want to use your maps app or risk blowing past it. The property is along a gravel drive with Spanish moss laden oaks and a lot of parking out back. A long ramp with an easy gradient offers handicapped access. There are three seating areas, one fully outdoors, one large screened area with a bar and finally an indoor area. We ate in the screened area and they've really done a nice job with the view. The foreground has been beautifully landscaped with picturesque palms on a backdrop of typical island forest. The area has multiple fans for comfort and heaters for the fall and winter making this an all seasons destination. We started with The Three Amigos entree of chips, salsa, queso and guac - good, but not special and carries a high price tag for what you get. I had three tacos - shrimp, catfish and crispy beef. The shrimp and catfish were quite delicious with tasty sauce and fresh cut veggies - high quality. The crispy beef was like you'd make at home. I felt like a virgin margarita, but shied away from the $12 price tag and just had water. We both had a side of rice for $4 each and it was good but not special. With tip, my son and I ate lunch for $75 - so a bit on the higher end. In sum, lovely ambience, above average service and above average...
