To: Marissa & Jason Myers., We want to share our review with you. This review is also posted on TripAdvisor, Yelp, and your Facebook page. We visited here the first time on Tue 2/11/20. Seanachai was highly recommended by our niece & husband who live on the island. Seanachai translated from Gaelic means "bearer of old lore", a story teller. This pub is located in a small stip of restaurants & bars. So with that competition you need to be unique, value priced, knowledgeable, friendly, and offer the best service. Seanachai has all of this and more. The owners Marissa & Jason Myers purchased this pub in 2019 from original owner Gerry Kirean. The pub offers 50+ whiskeys & scotch, many imported from Ireland, Scotland, etc. There is a printed list so you can keep track of your tastings. Great selection of Irish favorites & local craft brews on tap. Signature cocktails are made from scratch. Happy Hours are everywhere in Coastal Carolina. Senachai's is among the favorites for locals, snowbirds, & visitors. This Tuesday (4-7pm) the HH special was a pint of Guinness & a burger for $10. Hard to beat that. The burger was the same as is offered on the regular menu. Other HH specials are Sat-shepards pie, Fri-fish & chips, Irish stew, wings. There is also a Sun brunch 10am-2pm. Hours are Mon-Thur 4-10pm, Fri & Sat 4pm-midnight, Sun brunch 10am-2pm. Also check their calendar for local live music. And no TVs-enjoy the music & the craic. We also visited here on Sat 2/15 for dinner, drinks, & music. The following week we visited Th 2/20, F 2/21, Sat 2/22, & Sun 2/23 for brunch. We had 4 adults & 2 preschool kids for brunch. The server "Bar T" set us up w/ coffee & a Bloody Maria. We placed our order for breakfast. My niece, the Mom, requested that the kids be served first as we adults were not in a hurry. This request was handled graciously and the children were eating in 10 minutes. Thank you. There are 13 choices for brunch $10-12 ea. Omelettes, Grit bowls, bangers, french toast, quiche. Mimosas, Bloody Marys (& Marias), & Irish Coffees are served at brunch. This is one of the friendliest pubs we have visited. The staff is exceptional and deserve praises & raises. A hearty thank you to Adam, Matt, Colleen, Rachel, Jesse in the kitchen, & "Bar T". To Marissa & Jason - your staff is certainly a reflection of your commitment to your patrons. Also thank you to Marissa for sending the T-shirt to my wife when they were back in stock after our trip home. A great Irish public house to visited when in the Charleston, SC area. We will be returning to Seanachai's on our annual trip to Johns Island. Thank you & Slainte. Nick Parisi & Liz Farrell, Albany, NY Yes we are a "mixed...
Read moreI just got back from international travel last night and have read your response. As someone that has lived in Charleston for over 30 years, I am well accustomed to it's odors. Additionally, with prior work in F&B, I am familiar with beer coolers that have not been cleaned, condensation trays that have algae, and spill mat sludge dropped behind the ice wells; and the odors that go along with it. While it may be true that the chemical's used to clean the tables may make them sticky, the circular drink stains on the table suggested that they were simply wiped with a dirty bar towel or not wiped at all. I appreciate the breakdown regarding the math behind the meal, however my statement was that the cost was not commensurate with the cleanliness of the establishment and the customer service. As with most people, I do not retain receipts and having spent over three weeks abroad I couldn't begin to guess the day/time in which I visited your establishment. My intent was not to solicit free food and frankly would not accept it. Rather, use the money that would be spent on that meal to offer your employees another shift, overtime to come in on the weekend and clean coolers, or buy them a top shelf shot.
Your food is delicious, but in order to charge higher prices for it you must also provide superb customer service or a cleanly environment. I threw the 'or' in there because usually people will overlook one for the other.

I'd appreciate some constructive criticism if your time at our pub was only worthy of 3 stars...

Constructive criticism: Do a more thorough job cleaning your floors and tables. My shoes stuck to the floor while walking and forearms stuck to the table once seated. Additionally, the lingering smell, potentially attributed to the sticky surfaces, old spill mats or dirty condensation trays was off putting while eating. One staff member, I do not remember her name, possessed excellent service. Other staff possessed a pedantic and flippant attitude when asked questions regarding the menu and beer selections. Lastly, the two burgers and beers we ordered were decent. The pimento burger definitely outshines the house burger. The price for two burgers, fries and two beers was over $50. The price for the food and drinks are not commensurate with the cleanliness of the establishment and the flippant attitude...
Read moreCool new experience with a great and well priced brown water selection and the best reuben in Charleston for sure. There's a few signs outside to let you know what to expect. Read these! You order from the bar. It's definitely on the higher end of things for a smaller irish pub, although a few more irish beer offerings would be nice. The whiskey selection was one of the best I've seen in town definitely top 5 for selection and top 3 for pricing. Apparently we completely missed the outside experience. It looked like a great time but we thought it was for the bar next door. Maybe they share it? I was convinced to try the reuben and I'm glad I did as it was one of the best I've ever had, the best in Charleston without a doubt! The tots with irish cheese and house made aioli are also a must. Their riff on an old fashioned was awesome. Try the coca cola old fashioned sounds wild tastes great! Lastly but maybe even most importantly the hellos and goodbyes. The bartender from the moment we walked in said hello. In fact she repeated it 3 times as we were too busy taking it all in to respond like normal people. She never got rude about it though just politely kept welcoming us in. Upon leaving not only the bartender but even people at the bar thanked us for coming in and wished us well. We will...
