West End Bagels — Restaurant in South Carolina

When you have people straight from New York telling you to try a bagel place, you should probably drop everything and try the bagel place. And this is, in a sense, what we did.

West End Bagels is tucked into the middle of a strip mall. When we arrived the place was packed. There was barely enough room inside to stand however, the staff was attentive and quickly took our orders. I decided on the bagel with lox and cream cheese. This is my favorite bagel and West End Bagels knocked it out of the park. The bagel was the perfect consistency being just firm enough but not beef jerky firm where when you take a bite the insides of the bagel go everywhere while you try to shred apart the bagel. The lox were great too. I've been to a couple of bagel shops that use a cheaper brand that's really thin and doesn't taste or smell good. This was not the case here. The cream cheese was a solid 10 out of 10. Very dense and creamy.

Bagel choices are pretty consistent with every bagel spot. Plain, garlic, onion, poppyseed, everything, etc. Bagels can be bought single, half dozen, dozen or even more.

Facebook seems to be the best place to keep up with what is going on or their specials. I tried the website a few times and it seems glitchy. I would love the option to be able to order ahead given how busy the place was on my last visit but that's not a deal breaker.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at West End Bagels, and I must say it was nothing short of a culinary catastrophe. From the moment I walked in, I was met with an atmosphere that left much to be desired.

Let's start with the so-called "fresh" bagels. They were anything but fresh; in fact, they had a distinct moldy aroma that should have been a red flag. I couldn't believe they would serve such subpar and potentially harmful food. It's disheartening when a restaurant specializing in bagels can't even get the basics right.

The staff's attitude was equally disappointing. Rude doesn't begin to describe the level of customer service I encountered. It seemed like they were doing me a favor by taking my order, and any attempt at asking questions or expressing concerns was met with dismissive responses. A complete lack of professionalism that left me questioning why they're in the hospitality business at all.

To add insult to injury, the diner itself was far from clean. Tables were sticky, floors were dirty, and it felt like the entire place could use a deep cleaning. It's baffling how a restaurant can neglect such a fundamental aspect of its operation.

Overall, West End Bagels was a regrettable choice for a meal. Moldy bagels, rude staff, and a dirty diner are not characteristics anyone should associate with a dining establishment. Save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere for a more enjoyable...

We come here regularly and like the bagels, However, this is the second time we have experienced lack of good service by the manager. We always order online and do pickups! Second time it happened that someone else grabbed our order, UNDERSTANDABLE, what is not acceptable is how we were treated by the manager. One Employee was trying to help us and figuring out what to do next, manager kept discussing with him for good amount of time and kept us waiting, he didn’t even apologize or said any kind words, looking at us like he was mad at us! Hey man, Your store did a mistake not us! Another employee came out saying one order was not completed and someone else picked up wrong order (ours was picked up by someone else)! Even after realizing their mistake, he was not even sorry, how could someone be this rude at this position?! Dude, we were not there for free stuff, we have already paid online and just wanted our bagels! Wasted our 30 minutes just for bagels (not toasted, not any sandwich, just bagels with cream cheese on side, very complex order I know!! ) Don’t work there if you cant handle the “busynes”! With Other NY style bagel shops are coming in near future, we are not going to even bother to go to West End! Take out your frustration to other customers...
