We've eaten here often but this was our first time in a while. The food is usually very good but the proportion of proteins and vegetables to rice has changed drastically. We got takeout so I didn't think to get pictures but, though the flavor was great, we were pretty disappointed in the amount of meat and vegetables, especially considering the noticable increase in prices. I must admit, I was shocked when two take out kebabs with no drinks came to over $50. I had to double check the menu to make sure it was correct. The food was good but the serving size is definitely not worth the price. Service was friendly but the food took longer than usual to come out. They didn't appear to be very busy but there may have been a lot of call in orders.
Edit: Removing a star due to owner's response. The portions were received on this particular date were most definitely smaller than in the past. The prices were most definitely higher. There was no mistake. I compared the receipt to the menu. It was accurate. I don't have a menu in front of me but it was 2 kababs for around $19 each plus tax and tip. A little over $50. You can charge what you l like and I'll pay it off I feel like I'm getting my money's worth but don't call me a liar when I post an...
Read moreWe like try dishes from all over the world, so when we were in South Charleston today, we decided to stop here to eat. I was quite disappointed with the quality of the food as compared to the high prices. I had the grape leaves to start and they weren't like any that I have had before in that they were really cold and the filling was super bland rice. Then, I had the $25.99 dish of kafta, chicken, and steak kabobs. There were 4 chunks of chicken (which was the best part of the meal), 4 chunks of what was supposedly filet mignon but was so chewy and tough that I couldn't even eat it. There was also one fairly decent size piece of kafta that was very well seasoned. All of this was served over a bed of rice that was as dry as the Sahara. The only positive thing that I can say is that the service was wonderful, with very polite and personable staff. I was totally taken aback, however, when our food was brought out on disposable plates and we were given plastic forks to eat with! In total, my order of grape leaves, my entree, a can of Pepsi, and, a 15% tip came to right under $45! I mean, seriously, for those prices, hiring more help to wash actual real plates and utensils shouldn't be an issue. I so wish that we would have gone...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews, but I feel the need to warn others before ordering delivery. We ordered through the online website because we were told we had to do it this way or through grub hub. Food was supposed to arrive around 12:30 pm. We did not get the food until 1:18 pm. By this point, the food was cold. I ordered the lamb skewer medium rare and it was so tough (unchewable) that I could not eat it. I threw it away. My manager’s fries were cold. The hummus I ordered was the only thing that tasted alright but the pita bread that came with it was also difficult to chew, as if it were old or stale. The online ordering site charged a 5 dollar delivery fee, a convenience fee, and a credit card processing fee. This does not include the tip we paid of 15 percent. The website did not warn us that there would be a credit card processing fee. When I called the restaurant to question the cost, they explained to me that the website did not show the processing fee. The restaurant emailed me a copy of their receipt which noted the additional fee. They did not do anything to help with the service of our cold, inedible, and gross food. I will never spend another penny at this establishment and I highly recommend to take your...
