Sokolata isn't just a restaurant, it's a culinary adventure that seamlessly blends the sun-drenched flavors of Greece with the rustic heartiness of Italy. Stepping inside, you're greeted with a warmth that extends beyond the decor; it's in the friendly smiles of the staff and the inviting aroma of spices and fresh dough. This is a place where you instantly feel at home, ready to embark on a delicious journey.

The menu is a testament to the beauty of fusion, where classic Greek gyros share space with perfectly charred Italian pizzas. Each dish is crafted with care, showcasing fresh ingredients and time-honored techniques. Whether you're indulging in a plate of al dente pasta, savoring the crispy perfection of their wings, or biting into a juicy gyro, the flavors are bold and authentic.

But Sokolata offers more than just exceptional food. The service is genuinely personable, with a team that's attentive and passionate about their offerings. They're happy to guide you through the menu, offering recommendations and sharing stories about the dishes. This personal touch elevates the dining experience, making you feel like a cherished guest rather than just a customer.

Sokolata is a hidden gem, a testament to the power of combining diverse culinary traditions with heartfelt hospitality. It's the perfect place to gather with friends and family, to celebrate special occasions, or simply to enjoy a delicious meal in a welcoming atmosphere. If you're looking for an authentic taste of Greece and Italy, served with a side of genuine warmth, look no further...

First time here. We stood around for a minute until the cashier/waitress told us to take a seat any where. Then we waited for 5 mins until, another worker (might have been the manager from the looks of it) gave us a menu and said our waiter would be with us soon, and then waited another 10mins before our server came to take our order. I don’t blame her. She had the entire restaurant to herself, while the manager worked on dressing. Dishes sat on the table for 10mins until they started getting clear, because more customers started coming in. I felt bad for our waitress that she was waiting and server alone. For the prices, the food is not worth it. We ordered a slide of garlic bread because it didn’t state that garlic bread was served with our pastas. The red sauce was very bland and the four cheese sauce was very oily. The sweet tea tasted like dirty rag water. So bad that we bought soda in a bottle from their cooler because we didn’t know if it was their cups or sweet tea but something was wrong there. We then got desserts. That is probably what is keeping them in business. At least their gelato. That was delicious! I got the tiramisu cup, it was NOT tiramisu at all and didn’t even taste good. I took two bites and threw it away. Let’s not get started on the health code violations. All I will say there, is you don’t leave cigarettes on the counter next to your gelato cups and Parmesan shakers. I do not...

Update 04/2023: Sokolata’s hit it out of the park again today. I’ve been craving a chicken pita and they have the best in the Charleston area. Don’t let the picture fool you, they have plenty of meat on them. The tzatziki and ranch sauces are house-made and so creamy and delicious. House-made chips looked super crispy but weren’t hard; something that’s hit or miss a lot of times with this style chip at other places. The hummus was yummy too. Our little one loved it and ate nearly half the bowl. Husband enjoyed his traditional gyro as always. Service is always friendly and prices are reasonable. I will note that the menu doesn’t have the correct pricing on it and there is an up charge for using credit card, but that’s all normal these days and we don’t care. They also have a large selection of desserts and gelato that’s worth a trip all by itself. We were too full to partake, but I did grab some pics of today’s selection.

Original Review: Amazing desserts! We got a sampling of desserts and each one was phenomenal. The chocolate lava cake was moist with well balanced chocolate flavors. The eclair was smooth and light with just enough chocolate. The final item we didn’t get the name of. It was a layered strawberry glaze custard and puff pastry. Light, and creamy with just the slightest bit of chewy was. It was by far the best of the three. Service was quick...

My experience at Sokolata was undeniably wonky. I’ve always enjoyed their tasty food via drive-thru pickup, but decided to check out the inside experience on a late August day in 2025. Upon walking in, I was confused—do I order online to dine in? Do I seat myself? The process wasn’t clear, and there were no signs or staff at the entrance to help. The staff noticed my confusion and asked if I was eating in or taking out; at this point, I was trying to take out. She kindly handed me a menu and directed me to what felt like the “expo” window, a space between the dining area and the kitchen with restaurant equipment nearby. Interestingly, the drive-through person met me at the expo window to take my order and handed me the credit card reader, which had a default tip option. I didn’t provide a tip, as I was still in the middle of my confused feeling about the process. She kindly brought my food out to me, thanked me, and I was on my way. My London broil sandwich had less meat than expected (but still enough) and was warm, but not hot—more like premade than fresh. The homemade chips were fresh-ish, starting to soften but still with a little crispness. The food and service were good, but overall, the dine-in flow is confusing and could use clearer instructions for new guests. The experience was wonky in a way that stands out.

Today was my first time trying Sokolata, and I was very happy with my experience. The restaurant itself looked clean and we were taken care of quickly after coming in. We placed our order and had our food within probably 10 minutes. I got the Famous Gyro, some chips, a Cheesecake, and some baklava. The Gyro was excellent, the sauce and toppings were very flavorful and fresh, and the flavor of the meat was great as well. The chips were the biggest surprise. I'm not sure if they make them in the restaurant or if they're a purchased brand, but I could've eaten 2 lbs of those chips. They had a great salty potato flavor, and were thick cut but not difficult to bite into. They were very good. The baklava was very sweet and flaky, with very good balance of flavors as well. Just watch out for the cloves lol. The Cheesecake was good as well, but not as good as the rest of the things I had today. Sokolata has a very full menu, and if the rest is as good as the things I tried today, I'm looking forward to trying other things. The Gelato flavors looked delicious too, but didn't have time to try any out today. Definitely give them a try if you haven't!
