Karo’s Cake Shop — Restaurant in South Gate

I would not order from this place at all!! I paid almost $400!! The cake was so soft and room temperature that the whole cake fell apart ! It didn’t even ask a few blocks to my nephews 18th birthday party!! They offered no box and a little stupid mat keep the cake from “sliding”! This is totally unacceptable That the cake was so fragile, and they knew that it was not refrigerated well enough for TRANSPORT . They will not even work with me to at least provide half of my refund. My nephew’s birthday was a total Disaster and they will not take responsibility for what happened. I totally regret doing business with this cake shop. I should have known better. Beware !!!!!!!! Stay away from them!!! They have no sympathy and will not even work with you. I had 100 people waiting at a party with Cake that totally apart. The frustration that this whole situation caused was the worst experience of my life. With the amount I paid, they should have a lease offered free delivery service if they knew this was gonna happen. Totally unacceptable. DO NOT...

So I order a cake for my sons birthday 2 months back. I had talked to their eldest daughter that we wanted a “2 layer cake” and the top portion to be carved into a pokemon. She showed me couple pictures pictures of what route they would go and I said ok as long as its a double layer cake. They charge me $325. I come to pick it up and it s a single layer cake and they molded the pokemon our of fondant like its playdoh and the cake had a slight damage. Heres the kicker, when I picked up the cake, the mom helped me and she took my receipt and showed it to her husband in the back and I heard him scream in spanish, “HE PAID $325 for the cake?” Crazy thing is they didnt say anything to me and acted like it was normal. They screw me over of the cake, i get no candles and they didnt give me a knife to cut the cake. Seriously? I guess this is what happens when an asian guy decides to help out a local hispanic mom...

The staff here is very friendly. One of my fav. Cake shops closed during the pandemic and was scared I wouldn’t find the perfect cake for my weeding, thankfully after doing a search I found Karol’s cake shop, I stop by bought a piece of cake and booked a cake tasting date. We are super happy with the results, they arrived at the time we asked for them to drop off the cake. Everyone loved not only the designed but the taste of the cakes as well. ❤️this cake shop!
