I had ordered and picked up from Bistro d’Azur a few times during covid but never eaten in. I am so grateful I wound up here tonight. I don’t necessarily like having worded it that way but my mother and I had gone to another restaurant for a reservation to celebrate my birthday and walked out because the service was awful. Since we walked out of the first restaurant we needed an alternate restaurant to celebrate at. Since I loved the take out I suggested we try the dining in. From the moment we walked in I knew it was the right choice. Zayd greeted us and graciously seated us, he was our waiter for the remainder of the night, he was amazing-polite, attentive without being overbearing, he was extremely well versed with the menu and was able to describe each item perfectly we gave him our choices when uncertain of which to order and took his recommendations. I know we were both very happy with our orders! I ordered the pan seared scallops for my appetizer, perfectly pan seared! My Mom had the lobster crepe, so delicate and delicious. Main course I had the salmon with quail egg. I asked to opt out of the potato since I am doing my best with keto, they offered more veggies. That was perfectly fine with me, I was happy I received extra because even their ratatouille is amazing and that was the veggie. My Mom ordered the pepper crusted veal (oh no, it might have been venison-oops not my order can’t remember exactly) whatever the meat was it was incredible, perfectly cooked, tender and seasoned to perfection! My mom complimented the glaze more than once. I did break my diet by splitting the creme brûlée with my mom but trust me it was worth it! Just a note, Zayd was our primary server and was amazing but every other server who delivered a dish or cleared one was just as amazing, everyone was so polite and professional! Kudos to the chef for the amazing menu and kudos to management for hiring and training such a great staff. We’ll be back!

As a lover of French food, I have returned to this place now 4 times. They had me at the first. The lovely dining room puts you at ease and creates a cozy space within which to enjoy delectable fare. The staff is very helpful and attentive without being overbearing, from the wait staff, bus boys, hosts and owners, it’s clear they are glad to have us over. My favorite apps are the foie gras which I call ahead for, the lobster crepe featuring chunks of the stuff, the duck confit salad and of course the seafood plate. The grilled octopus was delish. The paella is rich, the bouillabaisse is so flavorful, while the lamb chops and the NY strip steak were nice and juicy. Next I will try the fish. The obligatory crème brûlée dessert is on the menu along with some chocolate delights and a fruit medley. This place has earned my respect and my return business. Without being a presumptuous copy cat, The owners have recreated a delightful and realistic French dining experience right here in northern NJ, equaling the cuisines Francaises of the big city, and at liquidation prices, compared to the greats in Manhattan. They also offer a nice selection of local wines and mocktails. You must try it for a proper French dining experience and a nice evening out.

Our friends brought us here on Saturday and treated us to a wedding anniversary dinner. We were a party of five. We were given complementary champagne to celebrate our anniversary. I’m vegetarian and the food was excellent. There is prefix dinner with either two options or three options. I chose the two. My salad was huge. My entrée was eggplant with a saffron rice. It was amazing. It’s BYOB. And that’s absolutely fine because we brought our wine in our champagne and other drink drinks. They were so attentive. The staff was wonderful and I believe we overstayed which I’m truly sorry about that. But we were having such a great time there. I definitely recommend them. We would definitely go again and again and again. There is food for everyone. I had my own vegetarian menu which had amazing selections. I have never been to a place where there was so much to choose from. We really love it!!! Five stars and more. Parking in street parking. And I think there’s one handicap space across the street.

What a wonderful experience!! We came here as a family for dinner, and each ordered from the $74 2-course prix fixe menu and brought in 2 bottles of wine. One of us ordered both appetizer/entree specials of mussels and parpadelle with lamb ragu, which was out of this world. The other 3 of us all chose the lobster crepe to start (there was a large serving of lobster meat in the crepe which left us pleasantly surprised) and as for entrees, we had the venison, roasted lamb chops and steak au poivre. To complete the meal, we had the lemon meringue parfait to share. Everything was fantastic. The atmosphere was comfortable and pleasant and had a nice warm, romantic/ fine dining feel. It is a beautiful restaurant with wonderful staff (Mike was our server - he was so great) and we will definitely come back!

Anyone that has ANYTHING negative to say about this place is smoking crack. I've been 3 times - once with my girlfriend, which was a walk-in during the soft-opening, went back for NYE with my girlfriend again and my best friend and his fiance, and once again with 2 other couples we dragged with us (our neighbors) to show them the diamond in the rough we had found - a mere 8 min walk from our houses! The space - AMAZING - just check out the photos. The food - SPECTACULAR - and honestly, it got better with every visit! The service was always an A, not an A+, but a solid A. Bistro d'Azur: Classy but not stuffy. Sophisticated - but fun. Mature - but not old. Delicious - but not pretentious. GO HERE. PS - @FRANSCHUMER was WAY too tough on the food.
