So, I've been a HUGE fan of Tito's for a LONG time. I started in Summit, then followed it to Morristown, Ridgewood and now SOUTH ORANGE! It really is one of the best quick food restaurants I know, and highly addicting. The burritos are rolled to perfection, moist and well seasoned. My personal fave is The Big Easy, (grilled blackened chicken with rice, cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo & ranch dressing... YUM!) When I'm in the mood for a taco, I usually order the shrimp taco - it comes with a hard and soft shell and is stuffed with a ton of shrimp, a cilantro/lime sauce and salsa - The greatest thing about Tito's is the FREE (YES, FREE SALSA BAR!!!!!!!!!!!) You always get a bag of chips with your order and can go to the salsa bar where there are about 4 different kinds of salsas (ALL FRESH!!!!) and munch away... I can have lunch or dinner for about $10.00 - including chips and salsa.
Tito's also has wings and fries... both of which I've ordered in and out - the wings are really, really awesome and they have about 5 different wing sauces you can ask for... you can't go wrong. If you eat at Tito's they have cool music and always have some kind of surfer video playing, so it's like a mini-vaca while you are munching away.
It's a GREAT spot for a quick bite in South Orange, a welcome change from the mundane. ...
Read moreI ordered Nashville hot wings . As you see in my picture , there was no sauce on them at all, they were dry. And the liquid at the bottom, that is OIL. Yes … oil and crude (I tasted it) . I went back in to ask for a new batch and the Assistant manager just kept laughing the whole time and never spoke to me directly about the issue. (she shouldn’t work there , from what I can see the whole staff is fed up with her) when I spoke to the manager he stated he would order me another batch. As I walked outside to wait , a employee came up to me and stated “if I was you I would just get a refund” insinuating they might do something to my food. And I did just that, got a refund and left . I will never come to this place again , especially with that assistant manager who seems like she has certain things against people who don’t look like her . One positive thing is that the handcut fries...
Read moreThis restaurant has objectively gone downhill. They're growing too fast. When we moved to SoMa 4 years ago I think they had 2-3 restaurants. Now they've got 5 and while I admire them for their growth as a business owner myself, this growth has absolutely come at a cost.
The people answering the phone just couldn't care less. The food is always - always sloppily prepared, and there just seems to be a general lack of interest by most of the employees. I understand first hand that sometimes you just need "bodies to fill shifts", but I'm sure you can do better. We used to truly love this place, but we ordered tonight and looked at each other and said "it's just not worth it anymore."
To the owners: you've got a good thing. It's simple, cheap, and tasty food. But something is wrong at the South Orange location. Hope you get it...
