This is some of the best barbecue you will ever have anywhere in the US. I have eaten here hundreds times since they opened three years ago. Their ribs, brisket, & homemade sauces are amongst the absolute very best. The ribs are huge and juicy and season beyond perfect. The brisket is world class & seasoned better than Salt Bea could ever dream of doing. The home made sauces are all excellent. I will highlight my two favorites: The Kansas City style thick sweet tangy sauce is one of the best I know of and their Alabama white style sauce is knock down good, strong, tangy, and the best part is the way the Alabama white style sauce combines with the flavoring on the ribs! It is like the Dance of Joy going on in your mouth. Ohhh and the sides, all excellent. I will highlight my two favorite: The baked beans are simply to die for. Never in my life have I had baked beans this way. There at least 3 types of beans in there & shards of pepper and the sauce too. The beans are sweat & strong, almost spicy. Absolutely marvelous. Next their Mac & Cheese is made with something like 5 different cheeses, not elbow pasta either, more like little shells. The real cheese tastes so good & is as rich as all get out. I am 100% certain no one will ever be disappointed at Boss Hoggs. It is a small menu, small team & I can assure anyone after eating there at least 100 times their consistency meter is pegged so hard to 100%, I never seen anything like it. If you eat this bbq and are not floored beyond stableness, I want you find me & kick me in the face! The only person I knew that did true smoker bbq was a guy name BBQ Billy, who turned out to be the mentor of Boss Hoggs....Mic drop....But the truth is, the students have far exceed the teacher in this case. Make plans to visit Boss Hogg in South Plainfield NJ right way!

I have been trying to get to this place for while. Finally, boy was it worth. When I got there I remember this previous eatery which, was a hot dog and Italian sausage place. When I entered some of the tables had customers eating their lunch. The interior decor has a nice vibe with a few tables and a large front window which, brings in the sunshine. Staff were attentive, courteous and friendly. I don't know but, I believe the manager took my order and was very courteous and delivered it to me and addressed me by my last name. That was a nice touch and classy. I ordered the Family sampler. It consisted of half rack of pork ribs, 1/3 lb each of brisket, pulled pork and chicken. Plus three sides of barbecue beans, mac and cheese and cole slaw. The restaurant was clean and bright. When you do takeout there is a barbecue sauce bar for you to take home. There is off street parking, which was no problem. BTW, they barbecue and when the food sells out they close. Now the barbecue. The pulled pork was juicy and moist. The brisket was tender with a nice bark. The white meat chicken was not dry and flavorful. The ribs did have a nice bark and not burnt. The meat fell off the bone. The barbecue beans were the best I ever had. Mac and cheese was a pleasant surprise and very moist and cheesy. The cole slaw had a vinger base and too vinegary for my taste. Overall this is a place I will be coming back again and again.

What to say about Boss Hog? I have lived in South Plainfield for a bit now, and Boss Hog was always on my list of local places to try. I took my dad, a BBQ lover who knows GOOD genuine BBQ, and Boss Hog is the Real Deal! In my father’s words, “This is the best Southern-style BBQ I've had in New Jersey.” Coming from my dad, who has lived in NJ for almost 30 years and smokes meat on the side, that is high praise. We also ordered their smoked Thanksgiving Turkey, which came with a tray of sausage stuffing and gravy, which was FANTASTIC! It added something special to our family Thanksgiving gathering, and everybody loved it! With leftovers to spare! Needless to say, Boss Hog is a solid bet for GOOD BBQ to fill that Southern BBQ craving we all have. The staff working the counter are incredibly nice, and I can't wait to go back with my dad and my friends! 10/10

We recently had Boss Hog come and do an on-site catering for a company event at our office. Everything was wonderful! Mark was very easy to work with and straight forward in the process. He was willing to answer every question we had for him in a timely manner.

The food was a big hit! We have some harsh critics, Simon Cowell types, that are not very easily impressed. I had all of them come up to me and tell me they have never had pulled pork THAT good. It was extremely well seasoned and cooked to perfection.

The rest of the food was equally amazing and left everyone stuffed and ready for a nap!! The sides can easily be overlooked at barbeque restaurants, but there were no weak links in these guys' menu. We had the cornbread, mac and cheese, country green beans, and coleslaw.

If you are looking for catering options that will wow your guests, Boss Hog will do the trick! Consider having them cook on-site for your event for a unique experience.

The guys showed me pictures of some of what they have to offer in-store which is a wider range of meals and sandwiches that were absolutely ridiculous in a good way. Though we did not personally go in store I am certain you wont be disappointed with their menu.

Thank you Boss Hog! You guys were lovely and your food...
