The food was good. But that's all that was good. But don't expect a good deal. The menu made me feel like spirit airlines. Want a second basket of their stale chips? $2. Want a second salsa? $2.50. Want that salsa to be spicy? Well that's$3. Want a special? Well I hope money is no object bc they don't even list the prices on the menu.
The service was bad. Ordered guacamole and it never came. Said something to the waitress after the meal came that it better not be in the check and sure enough it was on the check. After the meal we had to ask 3 times for the check. What's really considering is that the check said if you pay in cash the meal is 10% off... But then the bill only showed full price or a credit card surcharge. No where did it show a 10% discount. Were we to just short the bill 10% and walk away? When we asked for change that came out to$12 they brought 2 singles and a ten... Made it real difficult to leave a proper tip with such big bills... Almost like that's on purpose.
The tables are way too small and are way too close. A party of 2 with 2 plates barely could fit comfortably.
Came in on a Saturday with multiple options for sports for the 5 tvs they have in the place... Each tv had the exact same thing on.... Some MLS game no one was watching. But even if they were watching, tough luck bc at about 730 a dj started to play music that's more fitting for a club or party and spent twenty minutes trying to figure out how to use his computer on the TV sets to stream the music videos for the songs he was playing against a background of a real dj setup.
I might consider getting takeout since the food did taste good but I'll never sit at a table...
Read moreI am typically not one to write a negative review, but due to my latest visit to Casa Romero I felt the need to. I have visited this restaurant once before, the food was decent and the atmosphere was lively. This was not at all the experience I had this time. We were greeted and sat by the host who was the nicest employee we interacted with. Once we were seated it took a while for our server to come over and take our drink and food order. Typically I would not mind, however there were only 2 other parties in the restaurant and we other several servers standing around chatting. We placed our order and waited for our food, and at this point we had not been given chips or salsa either. We were then brought chips and salsa and a little while after, our food came out, however both of our orders were incorrect. Our orders were then corrected and we asked for the bill. As I was eating the chips, one of the other servers came over and cleared the table, taking the chips as well. We were not checked on once after the food was brought out. I do not mind having to wait or mistakenly getting our order wrong- I’ve worked in the food service industry for years, I understand that things happen sometimes- however the accumulation of all of these events did not sit right with me. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, there are other business that will have better food and...
Read moreComing from Socal, I take my Mexican food VERY seriously and this place just slaps every time (dare.I say the best Mexican I've had so far??). Perfectly seasoned and flavorful dishes that are very well portioned. A burrito here is well worth its price in size alone, not to mention packed full of meat. Tacos are one of my favorite things to order. The tortillas are sturdy and don't rip or get too soggy even when it's deliciously drenched in lime and salsa. It's also hard to find places that sell uncommon meats such as lengua, tripa, and cabeza, let alone do it well, and their's is chef's kiss. Beans and rice are good, nothing special but tasty nonetheless. I also enjoy the birria consome very much. Churros are also good but not mind-blowing. Complimentary chips and salsa roja if you dine in. Lunch tends to be a quieter crowd while dinners are more lively. To-go is carefully made to survive the drive, and the system is great since it texts updates to when your order is ready for pickup. Some reviewers mention the steak skillet dishes smoking up the place when you dine-in, to which I'll say - you're already going to have taco fingers and onion breath; what's a little smokiness in your hair and clothes at that point to round out the...
