Came here on the strength of our previous experiences at the Truffle Poke location in San Mateo. It surely disappointed.
Ingredients not fresh (seaweed, kale). Also the worst parts, they literally had Happy Hour which we were here for on Oysters (1.50 vs 3.00 each) and we ordered through the kiosk, and later told that we would have had to order at the register to get the Happy Hour price. Literally NO signs that indicate that this is the rule here nor would anyone know this little caveat to their Happy Hour since there's no signage for it.
The Manager or whoever it was straight gaslit me about these 4.25 "White Truffle Taro Chips" with ZERO TRUFFLE OIL. Tasteless, no Truffle taste whatsoever. This was not what we had in San Mateo. I asked her about it and she pointed to the Truffle Aioli options on the menu. Dude. The literal order item on the kiosk is called "White Truffle Taro Chips" and the description said they were "topped with Truffle Oil". Mine came topped with bullshit and gaslighting.
I would have given them one star had it not been for her begrudgingly walking over with a TINY cup of Truffle Aioli. And also the oysters weren't ALL bad, even if we were charged full price during "happy hour"....
Read moreA big shout out to Danny.
I previously ordered the Chips and Dip which I love. Originally, I was concerned about how spicy the Aioli was but to my surprise, it was just right. I can't speak as to the atmosphere, but I want to recognize Danny in the South San Francisco location. On October 4, I placed an order with Truffle Poke Bar through Grubhub. I ordered three items, the mango (which is delicious), an order of Chips & Dip and an extra order of the Aioli Dip. Of the three items two were delivered. I immediately reached out to Grubhub and spoke with a supervisor who refused to refund my money for the missing item stating I received too many refunds. I then reached out to Truffle Poke Bar and was contacted the following day by Danny who said he would make things right and that I could order $20 worth of food. Of note is that he agreed that Grubhub frequently misdelivers order. He emphasized with me in that Grubhub refused to issue a refund for a less...
Read moreI was in the area and came in here just after, I guess, would be the lunch rush.
Had about 2 patrons dining in, noone in line. They do have a self ordering kiosk btw, if you want to do such.
Onto my order, went ahead with a regular bowl, and the server or whoever, had a mask on, which I appreciate, but I couldn't understand half of what he was saying, and found myself saying "huh" or "repeat that" numerous times, which became frustrating. I recommend getting a face shield or mask that doesn't inhibit your mouth movement.
The service at the register and also service in general was just mediocre, didn't feel welcomed, and quite frankly don't think I would return.
Food was just ok, typical build your own poke bowl kinda place, nothing to rave about, nothing that separates them from other poke places, they also lacked certain toppings.
If you really are craving poke and close by, I guess you could check them out, if not, you ain't...
