We’ve visited in the past for breakfast and haven’t had this big of an issue, but this was our last time visiting the Country Skillet. We found a dirty table to sit at right when we walked in, it later was wiped down still leaving behind a ton of syrup and sugar. That was the least of my concern! We ordered coffees and water to start our breakfast. My cup was delivered with someone’s lipstick still on the mug. After working up the courage to take a sip, the coffee was burnt. We ordered our food, a “short stack” which is (2) pancakes, a bowl of oatmeal and a ham and cheese omelet with toast and grits. After waiting about 45 minutes for our order and realizing all the neighboring tables had received their food, we started to question where our meal was. We were told that they had several “small” orders and to-go orders. Even the ladies at the table behind us realized what was going on and had someone check on our food. A third server came and asked if she could check on our food, as we were getting ready to just leave money for our coffees. What do you know, 10 minutes later here comes our food piping hot, all except the old, cold toast. We were told our pancakes should be done shortly. Needless to say, after getting our food we watched the table in front of us sit down and 10 minutes later receive their food. I have never had such a bad breakfast experience. When checking out we were asked if everything was okay. I quickly told the gentleman that we would not be returning and he asked if we had a problem. Why yes, our order was “too big” to be fulfilled in a timely manner and still with us having an issue and making it known we weren’t even apologized to. Thanks for a waste of money on breakfast that we left at the table. If only you’d got our breakfast to us as fast as you left our ticket with us, we may not be spending another $20 down the street on...
Read moreI used to really enjoy this restaurant on my lunch break. Fast service and friendly. They have some new staff that aren't as attentive or friendly. Here is my review from today at 12:47pm. Kudos to Jody for being kind.
I tried coming in a short time ago. Specifically asked for Jody to wait on me and he told me where to sit. I sat down and a young girl came by and went to place her card down and I told her that Jody has me taken care of. She says quite loudly "Jody this is my section" and I told her that I asked for him and if I needed to move I would. He comes back with my water and told her I asked for him because I said the other staff is incompetent (which I did). She looks at me and says "I've never waited on you before". Yes, I'm aware because I attempted to come last week, sat down, waited, watched as two other tables came in and she got their drink orders while I was overlooked. I got up and left because of it, which is why I asked for Jody today. The girl walks away and goes to the counter and begins talking about me saying "I've never waited on her so I don't know why she would say that". First of all if you're going to talk about a customer to your colleagues at least say it in a low tone where I don't hear you. Second, if I ask for a specific person it's because I'm comfortable with him and his level of service. He's nice. The others could learn from him. I did not stay today either because I don't appreciate hearing the staff talking about me to each other. Jody was kind and asked me not to leave but I'm not going to dine in to hear her talk rudely because I asked for a specific person to be the person to help me.
The food is good here. The atmosphere is nice and nostalgic. Coffee is great. Most of the staff are wonderful. I'd recommend going to try the plate lunches. Ask for Jody because...
