Owen O'Leary's — Restaurant in Southborough

Me and four of my friends went about two mondays ago, the guys ordered 2 beers and one ordered a cran with vodka and we did the special on wings and pizza, side of fries and ordered two other soft drinks. The server forgot one or two drinks which wasn't an issue but was needed to be reminded other than that she was nice. The bill came and it was around 61$ from what I remember and at the bottom it said additional tip which we didn't add any and my boyfriend tipped her 15$ in cash. Once we gave her the bill, she stared at the cash and just said thank you and walked away. About two day later I look at my account and it says I was charged 81. I later read a review on here stating that on mondays they automatically add gratuity which isn't an issue but was never mentioned on the bill and I realized why the sever took such a long pause when looking at her tip in cash. Neither the server or the bill stated how much I would be charged and it never said 81$ and when i did the calculation myself it also came out to around 61$ and I was rounding up. Once I realized the issue I called the restaurant to speak to the manager and was told they would call me back. It has now been two weeks and I haven't gotten a call once about the issue. The wings were also burnt and she brought one of my friends more than we asked for. This place kind of feels like you're hanging out at someone's house. We always head upstairs. They have a large outdoor seating area with tables and a few couches. The mosquitoes are bad and end up chasing people indoors. Their citronella candles don't stand a chance. Would be nice if they looked into other bug options so you could stay outside after dusk.

Bartenders are always friendly and willing to joke around. The food is decent with good portion sizes. I had the nachos and they were tasty. My friends had a mushroom pizza, chicken and a side of sweet potato fries. They really liked the pizza and chicken, but felt the fries were a little bland.

The DJ is willing to play song requests,do karaoke,etc. There is paid ping pong and pool. Kind of a place for regulars, but we've been a few times and end up staying until closing. Drinks are fairly priced which is appreciated as well.

There's only one bathroom stall upstairs which is disappointing. And it smelled strongly of eggs a couple of times throughout the night. Not sure what that was about, but it was gross. Came in on a Saturday night hoping for a good experience. We were seated immediately, and sat down next to a window. As I was enjoying the view I noticed there were a lot of cobwebs on the windowsill, and after further inspection, I realized there was also 10 to 12 dead flies and lots of mouse droppings. When the waiter came by, I asked to be seated at another seat and told him about why I wanted to be in another spot in the restaurant. I was expecting someone to come and clean off the window or at least the manager to apologize for what I saw. I was disappointed to see the same waiter sit another group of customers at the same window less than 10 minutes later. I also saw the customer lean his elbow on that same windowsill, which is very disappointing. I spoke to a women who said she was not the manager for “the night” and told her what I saw. She said it to me “we don’t have a mouse problem. It was something that happened in the parking lot.” Unimaginable answer in my opinion. My opinion of this location has changed at this point.
