With this being my first time dining at this establishment, I had higher expectations than usual when a location is given a title as prestigous as "Detroit's Best Pizza Chain." They did not live up to the expectations. There was a bigger booth our party was interested in, but we were denied seating for a party that never arrived and were never offered to move to the area prior to receiving our meals. The party in question clearly was Caucasian, for two men showed up not in the best of moods three hours after the arrival time, making the situation feel racially charged since an apology was not even offered. We were also told reservations were not taken at the establishment, so there being a preset party table having a reservation contradicts their previous statements. The waitress continued to fumble over our order soon after. Messing up the sizes and charging individuals for products they either did not order or were meant to be charged to others bills. This could have been avoided if the waitress, instead of pretending to have a photographic memory, wrote the orders down on a notepad as they once traditionally would. Visually, the proportions were good, and the prices were somewhat reasonable. However, the food underperformed. To be a pizza place with such an esteemed background, one would expect better-tasting pizza. The crust was underbaked on both the classic round and deepdish. The amount of sauce was questionable on the deepdish, which also had more cheese than toppings and lacked their "famous" pepperoni all together, which I did not notice until the time of this review. The round pizza had an amazing amount of toppings, but due to the sogginess, it had a very unpleasant mouthfeel, texture, and flavour from the dough. The cheese bread lacked flavour. Normally, cheese bread has some sort of spice in it to complement the cheese. Theirs did not. The fries were good, but still nothing amazing. From what I was told, the fish was a good choice and was enjoyed, but dry. Overall, the experience was only elevated by the party, not the service or food. I recommend thoroughly checking all orders, receipts, and rules before making this your go-to restaurant. -Thank You.

I recently ordered the Family Pizza Combo, Carryout special $24.99, Large 2 toppings, Salad and 6 breadsticks. when I called to order I mentioned the deal that was posted in the website. the person taking the order was confused and asked me to read the deal including the price. After working through their confusion I placed my order and was told $37 was the price, I asked for clarification and was assured that the price would be right when I payed. I was also not given a pick up time estimate. When I walked in to pickup the order, no one was at the counter and waited several minutes before any staff arrived. The Pizza was not good, the crust seemed like the dough was baked previously into a loaf of bread and then they melted cheese on top and put a few tablespoons of sauce not reminiscent of true Detroit style crust at all. I typically love Shields and this time I cant bring myself to finish the left overs. We only received 5 breadsticks in the box not 6. The Salad was as expected and good. For Shields to be demanding the prices they charge, one would expect the pizza to always be consistent and excellent. There are so many choices for good pizza in the area, no need to over pay for bad pizza. I could have even gotten a better pizza around the corner at Little Caesars. It will be a while before I visit this place again. Order date 10/29/2020 8:05PM, pick up time 8:35PM

The ambience of the restaurant is quite pleasant, with a charming rustic and old-world vibe that gives it a cozy, laid-back feel. However, the lighting could use some improvement, as it felt a bit dim and uneven in certain areas, which slightly took away from the overall atmosphere. Service-wise, things were decent but could be more efficient. Now, onto the food, which is the true highlight. The pizza was absolutely delicious, bursting with flavor and made with fresh, quality ingredients. What impressed me most was that it tasted just as good when reheated later, which speaks to how well it was made. The pasta sampler was another standout, it’s a must-try for anyone visiting. Each variety offered a different rich, savory flavor and tasted incredibly fresh. The clam chowder soup deserves a special mention as well. It was creamy, perfectly seasoned, and filled with tender clams, it’s honestly one of the best clam chowders I’ve ever had. Overall, while there’s room for improvement in terms of lighting and service speed, the food more than makes up for it. I will definitely be returning for another meal, this place is a hidden gem for food lovers.

We celebrated my nephews birthday last Friday night and the Bathroom for the ladies was very clean!!! Amd we mentioned as much when we were there to the staff. Way to go and thank you!!!

Our server and the balloon hostess were nice and friendly. The children loved the balloons she made. And even when some of the children's balloons popped, she returned to replace the balloons several times keeping the little ones happy! We tipped her and encourage others to do the same. She had great interaction working with children. This was a nice touch to the experience and made the space brighter. Keep her!!!! Wait staff was helpful, food was hot and tasty. Again this was the best part of pur visit!!!

On another note to management/owners. It's time for a refreshed renovation in your dining and bar area and entrance. It was very loud and the dining area seemed dingy-Or dull- carpet walls chairs lighting plates and cups seemed old fashioned.

Nothing appealing to look at on the walls. No vibrant colors, inspiration. It was not appetizing to eat in this environment..it made.me question the cleanliness of your kitchen and the food handling practices. I know money might be an issue so Maybe not a huge overhall. At once but maybe more modern fabrics for the seating or carpet tiles that can be easily replaced when stained. Curtains and energy efficiant ambiant lighting. Ceramic plates in bone white and medium clear drinking glasses. Your eating utencils were ok. Also minimize the number of items on the table. There is not much room on the table, so less is more when that beautiful pizza comes out on the tray. Also the air quality could use an improvement. The whole place smelled like grease and a staleness I can not clearly describe. I think maybe smoking was allowed in there at one time and it still smells like an old ashtray. Maybe this will improve with renovations and a change in materials that carry the stinch.

I hate to pick bit we had such an uneven experience. You clearly know how to pick great staff and that is half the battle, but the environment does not match your awesome staff or food. I currently don't want to return until I see the "Pardon our Dust" signs that indicate you are remodeling. I would like host a fundraiser for the organization I work for or a birthday party, or family dinner at your location in the future.

I will apologize now if my frankness offends, its is meant to provide constructive input and highlight what you are also doing well. Again, you are on the right track with the food and staff. I would love to see you go the full distance. Thank you for reading. I will be rooting for your success!!!! Hope to visit again soon as this is a staple.in the Community...

TLDR: Great food and nice hostess, but the waiter was EXTREMELY lazy and inattentive.

Longer Review about the service: Although the food was great, the waiting service was EXTREMELY poor. My bf and I came here about in early July and after the very nice hostess (not sure what her name was but she looked like she was in her early twenties or so, black, and had a bun in her hair at the time) acknowledged us shortly after walking in and seated us, not only did we wait over 10 minutes to just get our drinks ordered, but this other woman, who wasn’t even supposed to be our server, ended up taking them. She had just noticed us and asked if we had been helped yet so that was the only reason why we ordered through her (and we decided to order everything right then and there to avoid waiting to get our orders taken again). We asked for our appetizers to come out at the same time; however, after waiting a long time again, another waiter (never found out his name because he never introduced himself or even actually paid attention to us) came with my appetizer, gave me it, and then asked if we needed anything else. My boyfriend had to tell him that we asked for both of them to come at the same time, to which the waiter took forever to come back with. We then had to wait a long amount of time AGAIN to get our pizzas. After getting them, we realized that we didn’t have small plates to put our pizzas onto so my boyfriend was going to ask the waiter to give us some when he came back. Despite this, the server didn’t come back around. My boyfriend ended up having to find the plates on his own to get them. The server never gave us refills or checked on us while we were at the restaurant; however, once he gave us the bill, he acted all nice and stood by our table a bit more. I’m sure you can guess why. Once he ended up walking away, my boyfriend and I agreed not to tip him since we had never had someone so lazy “serve” us. We wanted to give a tip to the hostess since she was the only one that did her job well, but once we went over to her, we saw our waiter by her just...
