Good food, poor service.
Waited in line for 10 mins to order lunch. Got our food and got to the table and kids asked for more mac and cheese. (Was a small side with their meal). I went back to the counter and asked if I could add on an extra side for them and the lady told me that I needed to go wait in the 10 min line again. I said that is fine and I was willing to go wait in line again, but could I have 2 sides of Mac and cheese so my kids can keep eating while I wait in line for 10 more mins.
She said no, I had to pay before they could give me food.
Needless to say I had just spent $40 on lunch and tipped them more than they deserved exactly 2 mins prior. Now I cannot be trusted with a $5 order of mac and cheese. Heck they could have held my CC until it was my turn if they were that concerned over it.
So by the time I finally got back to the table with more Mac and cheese, of course everyone is finished eating.
What a joke. They clearly do not have kids or cater to families. Don’t waste your time here.
Also side note, they only take one order at a time, and the rest of the employees stare at you awkwardly while one person trays the food and hands it out. They will not take the next order until they have completely finished that one order.
Seems like they could have one person taking orders and another handing out the trays to speed up the lines and keep things moving. Just...
Read moreI will start by saying that the service was good and the meat portions were hefty. I feel that the pricing was very fair for the amount of food served. The bbq and brisket were really good. They no longer serve the red slaw which I was not aware of until today. Unsure of when this item was taken off the menu, but it was a very disappointing discovery. The red slaw was our favorite side. So we tried the collards and Mac-n-cheese for the first time. My husband and I were disappointed in both. The collards were extremely bland, lacking flavor and seasoning. The Mac-n-cheese was just ok. The cheese had the consistency of thick paste as if it had sat for an awhile and was starting to dry out. It did not look at all like the photos here in the reviews and it was NOT visually appealing. The hush puppies were dry and over cooked as well. Honestly, the bbq and brisket were the only good parts of the meal. The place was clean, however, there were a bunch of gnats flying around the condiment area and “in” the chopped onions. Maybe it was an off day for them, but the BBQ House on Oak Island is not that much farther and is...
Read moreThis place has some of the best BBQ I've ever had. The ribs are tender and flavorful, the pulled pork is delicious, and the brisket has an unbelievable crust and just melts in your mouth (its hands down my favorite meat here). The sweet sausage is delicious too and a bit unique as smoked sausages go - just beware that it also has a little jalapeño in it. The sides are just as good as the meat, and that is really saying something. The "chips" are more like chip shaped fries than potato chips, but the seasoning and cook on them is great. Be sure to try them with the smokey ranch! The baked beans are cooked to perfection- the texture of the beans themselves is so creamy, and the sauce is perfectly spiced. The mac & cheese is good but probably my least favorite side. The best side, though, is, without a doubt, the hush puppies. Crispy outside, tender inside, with the perfect touch of sweetness. They are divine whether you eat them with the cinnamon butter or on their own.
If you are in Southport and you like BBQ, this place needs to be...
