0 out of 10, would NOT recommend. This is a public establishment and they have a sign stating service dogs must to pre-approved. That is against ADA law. I saw the owner in a review claim they are a private club. There is no sign stating they are private nor do they have someone at the door checking membership. This place is open to the public, therefore they cannot deny access. What is legal is to be kicked if the service dog is causing problems, using the bathroom on the floor, stealing food, attacking people, jumping on the counter, etc. I walked in with my service dog...there was food all over the ground, the bartender was on the client side of the bar chatting with a friend, we were not asked about our membership (per the claim in a review response I just saw) and a very simple drink (mojito) could not be made. We left as the environment was not exactly inviting and we could not get a very simple drink. I would not suggest this place to anyone. I stand behind not allowing pets. To have a sign stating you need pre-approval for a service dog is insanely inappropriate and shows little knowledge of ADA laws. If you want to be a private establishment, great, your right...be one and limit entrance to ALL public (not just people with service dogs) and require people to show proof of membership. And make sure you clean up the broken bottles in the grass right outside your pub. The glass and bottles are only near this establishment, not the rest of the parking lot.

This was the first bar I tried when we moved across the river. They served amazing food back then, but sadly, since covid, they no longer do. Dont let that deter you, though. It's still, by far, turned into our favorite place to gather, grab a pint, and socialize in SPT. Friendly clientel, amazing staff, great whisk(e)y / bourbon selection, cold beer, and daily drink specials. Grab a bag of hot popcorn and belly up to the bar. Very veteran friendly too.

ORIGINAL: Found this place a couple years ago and loved it. Constant drink specials, $3 Guinness, amazing fried pickles that made a meal for two hungry people. We made sure to try to make it a tradition. Fast forward to this year: Food no longer served, private membership required, price increases, and the tap for the beer on special that day was conveniently broken. Choices were Bud or Bud light. Don't know what happened in the past couple years, but we were very sad to see current changes and will not be returning.

UPDATED FOR OWNER RESPONSE: Immediately calling your patrons "liars" and "trolls" when they have a bad experience does not retain or generate new clientele. Things happen, but meeting criticism with immediate dismissal and hostility makes me glad our business goes elsewhere. Tristan's review including the photo of the bar from September of 2019 shows the $3 Guinness draft advertisement you claim to have never had. Since your site still shows food menu offerings, I would suggest updating it. It's still a private membership. Offering another option for the price of the beer that was on special that day I think would be reasonable. Unfortunately this was not the case. We came for the $4 Guinness on tap. Everything else was full price, and mass-produced beer, or bottled. So our two choices were to stay or go. We left.

Please treat your future customers...

The Pub of Southport is one of the most genuine and homy bars I've ever had the privilege to patronize. Locals of all walks of life intermingle in a peaceful and jovial way without incident. The knowledgeable staff are friendly and remember most everyone's name that walks through the door more than once. I'm lucky enough to be a regular here and have attended one of the tasting events they hold on occasion. Pat knows his stuff and has passed his knowledge onto the amazing bartenders. The live music is diverse and fun. Overall, it's a safe space for locals and out of towners alike. I've read the one star reviews and find them to be either highly subjective or just plain ignorant.

P.S, If you're lucky enough to be there on a night the food truck is operating, get the burger and the eggrolls. Also, one more amazing feature is the Paddy Wagon that is there to get you safely home after you've inevitably had...
