This place is super yum. Had the coconut ice cream in a cup and was delicious. Full creamy flavor with balanced coconut pieces covered in chocolate. (Was nervous chocolate dominating but did not) Dad had peach ice cream and that took me back to childhood peaches and cream. They have soft serve as well and some cool savory light fare perfect for a beach blanket. The shop is tidy and curated well. Prices are very reasonable and they even had a discount for back to school. Super thoughtful. Nice seating outside and a cute courtyard to the side full of tables and little places to sit and enjoy. Sorry about the pic, but I the ice cream was too good and was left with this ice cream cup goose.

As a native to MDI, I often struggle to find accessible places to stop in for lunch/treats when I visit home. I cannot express how exciting it was to see this new shop BOOMING with business on a warm summer day. The entire staff welcomes you with a smile and they each have endless information on the area as they are all locals. Not to mention you can speak directly to the owners who are working the floors with their staff. I can't wait to stop in to purchase some Christmas gifts for my friends on my next visit. This is the perfect one-stop-shop that leaves the biggest grin on your face. Thank you Salt Shop for keeping the nostalgia alive within this hard working town!!

The reason I gave this the 2 star rating is because of price. I had the Sorrell sandwich and an iced tea and it cost $21.25. $5 for the iced tea and $16.25 for the sandwich and 1 side. The sandwich was fairly small and the tea was in a regular plastic cup (see photo). This is the "Quiet side" of Mount Desert Island but the prices are what I would've expected in Bar Harbor. The sandwich was good, but small and not extrordinary, also included was a side and for mine I selected the tiny bag of chips. Southwest Harbor has limited places to eat but options are available.

Our favorite stop when in town! The cutest vibe and merch- I picked up a local MDI mug and some great gifts for family for the holidays- perfect stocking stuffers from hot sauce to coffee beans to a handmade lobster rope door mat- beyond cute! I usually get an iced coffee and a grab & go wrap…but don’t sleep on the potato salad! Yum!! Also, can’t beat the prices. Coming from a busy city down south everything seemed more than reasonable for the portion sizes you get! Highly highly recommend making Salt Shop a destination! I also love the fact they are open late so after dinner we would walk downtown and grab a cone. The...
