Small, local bar & restaurant with welcoming staff and clientele. I've eaten there twice; once was excellent, but the second time was disappointing.
The first time, I ordered the chicken quesadillas for $10. The portion was extremely generous, the chicken was spiced and freshly grilled, and there was plenty of cheese. Overall, it was delicious, so five stars for the chicken quesadillas.
The second time, I ordered the mile high nachos, also for $10. Even though there were very few customers, it took nearly an hour before I received my plate. While everything was fresh, the toppings were really skimpy. About 90% of the chips were completely dry, as the cheese sauce had been scantily drizzled only over the topmost chips. The scallions, olives, and jalapeños were few and far between. I actually asked for more cheese sauce, and got a tiny condiment dish of runny sauce for my trouble. Honestly, I can't even award this dish one star.
I dislike being overly pessimistic based on one dish, but a plate of nachos is basic pub grub. If you're going to have it on your menu, you'd better be doing it right. That means layering the chips with cheese and toppings, especially if you're charging $10. Hopefully, next time I'll have a better experience. If so, I'll update my review to...
Read moreHad a relative visiting from out of town. My sister-in-law wanted to take us to a local spot that was fun, had some history and had been around almost as long as the country. The current building was built in 1906 after the previous one burn to the ground. It reminded me a little bit like the TV show. Cheers and number of people were around the bar and almost all of them greeted each other as they came in for cocktail hour, but the best part was the food. It was essentially Pub food, but it was very good. After sharing appetizers of a flatbread and cauliflower “wings“ that were fried, but both were delicious. I had tacos upgraded to steak with fries. My wife had a Caesar salad salad and her sister had a house salad, both large and good. my brother-in-law and nephew both had fish and chips that looked delicious and they confirmed that. The portions were large and very tasty. A young woman was working as both bartender and server and even with quite a few people did an awesome job. All the orders were quite good and were large enough at several of us took food home. The last time I was there a couple years ago. I remembered that the food was pretty good. However, I think it’s even better now it was a fun, delicious dining experience. I will...
Read moreThis place is for you if you’re looking for typical lukewarm bar fare and even more lukewarm service. But don’t let that get you frazzled if you’re interested in music that you can hear on any classic rock station or bad karaoke or jukebox: save your quarters for the overcharged food that needs to be charged for the hard working servers that don’t get their tips taxed from the owners; but don’t you worry cause this is the only place to get bud light flat from draft and potato skins that have burned while the server explains that the wrong charge to a table was the reason their food burned. But don’t worry; the owners are prominent and wealthy and will either take this comment down or figure a way to get around it. But this is the place for you if you have no self respect or reason to question why a shot is 9$ or why food comes burned under hot lamps from several forgetting, or why the air conditioning blasts in winter. But above all else; please support this bar because the family who owns it are really hurting financially and are aching for the support of their bread and butter bar. Please keep this...
