I was looking to try a new local ice cream spot and I heard good things about Summer House. The options go beyond ice cream, offering some basic kid-pleasing fare. Seems like a great spot to bring the family or the team for burgers, dogs, and ice cream. We ordered from the take out window and found the menu to be a little chaotic and confusing. If you’re new like we were, it’s hard to decipher what they offer. The menu displays appeared disjointed with no clear logic to the layout and the soft serve options are limited. My husband and I ordered kiddie size soft serve in a dish. Both the quantity of ice cream and price are sensible; we paid less than $5. I got the Orange Creamsicle and twisted it with vanilla, which was great. He ordered a coffee soft serve also twisted with vanilla. We are huge fans of coffee ice cream and this one has a pretty mild coffee flavor comparatively. Summer House is good but definitely not the best in the area.

Great local independent fast food and ice cream establishment. Soups, chili, wraps also on the menu. Easily accessible, ample parking, handicap and family friendly. Food is consistently good. Unique desserts like Strawberry Shortcake (seasonal). The locals love this place. Mainly staffed by high schoolers. Used to be only open in the summer decades ago. Is now a year round operating restaurant. I have visited the restaurant over the last forty years periodically. It is a fun local joint with good food.

A nice road side diner. It does exactly what it says, the food is quick and a little greasy and the flavor is good. The back has lots of room for kids to run and play and the inside has plenty of seats if you just want a quick fix. Don’t come here with a vegetarian gluten free diet, but for the rest of us it is a great summer meal and very family friendly.

2020 Just patroned one of my favorite local places to eat and get ice cream. We were only 5 minutes away from the summer house visiting family and figured it was a good idea. Our milkshakes were sweet milk... Completely liquid... There was no tarter sauce with my clam strips and they were over breaded or just breading no clam. The sweet potato fries were still raw and were set aside to put in the oven to finish cooking and eat at a later time. The bacon was the consistency of rubber. I am usually over the moon about y'all which is why I kept my previous review below and the 5 stars, but after placing an order for over $50 and being thoroughly disappointed... It's gonna be a little bit before I gamble again to return to what was our favorite spot. And I get it, we're slowly opening from a pandemic and not trying to slander y'all, or for business to be lost from this post. I just want you to be aware of the product you're putting out there... And so many of us were affected by this, my family lost work, lost income as well, but we wanted to treat ourselves after being cooped up for months and only eating from home, it was just really disappointing. I hope you get your bearings together and start putting out great food again because we, as a community, really need our local spot and need encouragement, like the good food you always had, the friendly staff are still present, but for our family's dinner tonight, the good food was not.

2019 Always a wonderful experience. We enjoy bringing our dogs out and the summer house is one place where we can sit outside, eat a break and enjoy some ice cream with the pups. Consistent place good prices...

I normally don’t write reviews, but I feel compelled after what happened during my recent visit to this location in Southwick on August 16th. I had brought my elderly father, who is very ill, out for a meal. Unfortunately, while we were waiting in line, he had a small accident. As you can imagine, this was already an extremely difficult and embarrassing situation for him. Instead of receiving compassion or even quiet professionalism, one of the employees loudly reacted in a way that made everything so much worse. She made comments like “Ew, what’s that smell?” and even started making exaggerated gagging noises in front of everyone. The looks she gave us were filled with judgment and disgust. Watching my father—who already struggles with his dignity every day—be humiliated like that was heartbreaking. This experience was beyond unacceptable. Elderly and disabled customers deserve empathy and respect, not ridicule. To be treated this way in such a vulnerable moment was one of the most demeaning experiences I have ever witnessed in customer service. I hope management takes this very seriously, because no family should ever have to go through what we did. This location needs to reflect on who they hire and how they train their staff when it comes to dealing with...

Although prices may be reasonable, my family and I will not return to this establishment based on one of the owner's, Rick's deplorable attitude. Although we have been loyal customers in the past I was shocked and appalled after speaking to him about a meal that was ordered and cooked incorrectly. I specifically told the worker who took my order to make 4 hot dogs very well done. When I brought them home only to find that they were barely cooked, and very rubbery. This Rick told me that unless I worded that hot dogs to be burnt they would just be made the normal way. Really ? What's the difference between very well done and burnt except for the wording. He was so cocky and condescending explaining to me that he would not give me a credit or a replacement meal. Would it really have killed him to put out $10 to keep loyal customers happy ? All he said was he will talk to the cook, and the next time to make sure that I say that I want the hot dogs burnt. Hard to believe that is place is successful with an owner that clearly doesn't care about his patrons satisfaction, just about the money. The bottom line is just eat and don't complain about anything as nothing will be done. Simply said, you get what...
