I recently visited Boom's Thai Kitchen new location inside Piggly Wiggly in Fairhope, AL., and my experience was a mixed bag. The food was good, but it didn't quite reach the level of greatness or excellence. The flavors were there, but there was nothing particularly memorable about the dishes.
The service, on the other hand, was commendable. The owner/cook was very accommodating and even offered to cook personalized meals, which took about 20 minutes. Restaurants here seem to flail and fail through a combination of crappy south Alabama weather and inconsistent hours. How many times have we finished the old "I dunno what do YOU want for dinner?" ritual to finally land on a choice located at The Fort only to find they are closed? Very frustrating.

The owner is a dogged hard worker managing to keep consistent hours despite the challenges that come operating a restaurant in this location. The food is always delicious and they are always very-very friendly. The portions are large and everything on the menu that we've tried is fantastic on site; travels well in To-Go scenarios.
Try the spicy coconut shrimp with your choice of protein or the curry with a mixture of spices and sweet pineapple. Try the hand-rolled Boom rolls and their homemade chili sauces. Try it all, these...

The restaurant that Americans like to taste is run by mother and son. The children told me enthusiastically that they will move to a nearby shopping mall in the future. It can be seen very delicious in the picture. I don't need...
