Locals loved "The Lake Bar and Grill" and we all know that change is hard. However, sometimes change is necessary and this is probably one of the best changes they could have made.
Spanish Springs' dining options have been limited for as long as I can remember which, as a lifetime local, is a pretty long time. It's a small community out here and there was a lot of attachment to the previous establishment. I went in tonight with an open mind and a palate for previous visits to Flowing Tide Pubs across Reno and Sparks.
First off, Sheri is the GM and fielded my calls with questions, beautifully. She's also just as nice in person. I went inside to get our food to go, through our server Tino who was with me from beginning to end. Great service, considering I was messing with the dine in flow.
There was a wait to be seated for those wanting a table but it didn't seem unreasonable. There are surprisingly quite a few tables, 18 to be exact, on the pub and grill side with 20 bar seats. The lounge/smoking side has a long bar and four tables too. They really opened the place up!!
While I waited for our to go, I got a lot of nice photos of the food. Everyone was great about me taking pictures too! So if you're missing The Lake, don't worry, you'll be okay.
Portions appear to be more than generous across the board and prices are great for the amount of food you get. One lady's half order of nachos, (already half consumed) was still huge! A regular cheeseburger was quite large (and had me wanting one!). Everyone I spoke to loved what they were eating.
Now on to what we actually ordered...I got the pot roast which was so tasty. It has a rich, brown, mushroom gravy and the meat was exceptionally tender. Their signature dish is the fish and chips which my mom and husband both had and loved - crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside, cooked to perfection. My little cousin had the quesadilla and she said it was good and one of my grands got the garlic parmesan wings to which she said "my mom needs to step up her garlic game".
Overall, our experience with #10 was exceptional and I can't...
Read moreI'm disappointed in the quality of our visit. I love going to the flowing tide on Prater/Sparks they always have great food and service is always prime. We were seated and bombarded for our drink order with no time to look at the menu. Only to not see the waitress again for another 15 min. Meanwhile mr bouncer leaning over my shoulder for the near majority of my experience should take advice to prop himself up somewhere else. Once she returned we ordered two happy hour shareable appetizers for the three of us & dinner at the same time. Appetizers came out with no napkins, side plates, or silverware. They were dropped off by another waitress that immediately vanished before I could ask for anything else. No checkups at all.. Then twenty minutes went by and dinner came out from another waitress and I finally got to ask our original waitress for napkins and silverware along with a canned drink.. they brought back a handful of napkins and carefully dished out a total of 4 napkins, the silver ware, and plates that were not needed anymore and we never received the drink. The BLT I ordered came out with what tasted like leftover buttered bread from breakfast that was kept warm under a heatlamp beside the bacon, & a pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries that were almost blackened burnt!!! The only edible part were the appetizers...
Read moreI really want to love this location as much as I love the others, but it needs some improvements. The service has been disappointing, and the food is mediocre. I’m more than willing to update my review once things get better.
When I placed a pickup order, I was on hold for five minutes before I was hung up on. When I called back and explained the situation I was placed on hold again for another six minutes. Frustrated, I called back a third time and requested immediate assistance, mentioning that I had already been on hold for over 10 minutes. I picked up my food, and to their credit, it was good.
On another visit for lunch over the weekend, we got two orders of tacos. It took 30 minutes to get our food, even though it wasn’t very busy. People who came in after us received their orders before we did. When the tacos arrived, the shells were cold (not heated or crispy), and the cheese wasn’t melted. Overall, the experience was very underwhelming.
I plan to keep coming back because I really enjoy the other locations, but this one has a lot of room for improvement. I hope they can...
