Hibachi Buffet & Grill — Restaurant in Spartanburg

It's been awhile since I've been back here which was pre 2020 and the whole pandemic thing which I wasn't sure how they'd be affected because of being a buffet. I'm glad to say they are fully open and from what I've seen and being well over a year maybe 2 years since I've been there they are a full service buffet exactly like they always were. The food is still amazing and there is 100% no difference in the quality, quantity and foods they offer. In fact the only thing I noticed that's different from back then and now is the ice cream. It used to be self serve of the big tubs like ice cream shops have but now it's in individual cups already prepackaged like in the small round cups with the paper lid you pull off which is fine too still. I'm so glad they are open and operating and while I've noticed so many places changed in one way or another, drive thru only, limiting the times and menu items, changing to higher not lower prices despite lower operating costs by going drive thru only, changing the dining style and so many changes...but its nice to see one place remained the same and is still just as good as it always has been! When you walk in a place and smell stagnant water and roaches at every turn, you should go back. But I did not, and paid the price. Honestly, $28 is a lot to pay for food poisoning. The noodles and rice for the hibachi bar were all old, with wilted vegetables and gray meat. The sushi had sat for so long that the sauce started to harden and the meat was dried out. All the rice on the buffet was hard and old, dried up under the heat lamps. And all the meat looked like TV dinner quality, soggy and unappetizing. It was not edible. I've ate here a few times. I give it a try every few years and I am so disappointed in having come to this restaurant yesterday. I usually don't do this, but I hope it helps one more person from paying for a meal that they cannot enjoy. It is hard to sit and eat food that is hard, cold, old, and does not taste good but to have to sit and eat it with the wafting aroma of roaches and then pay for it, is insulting. EDIT AGAIN: We returned to see if the same person was there from our awful experience and so far we have not come in contact with her! We decided to come back only because their buffet is the best that has sushi AND kid’s pizza/fries (our kid will not eat anything else they have). Their food is so much better than ny hibachi across town!

EDIT REMOVED 4 STAR REVIEW: WE HAVE BEEN GOING HERE A REALLY LONG TIME UNTIL TODAY. AFTER EATING, OUR WAITRESS QUICKLY CAUGHT US LEAVING AND ASKED IF WE WERE DONE. WE HAD OUR 5 YEAR OLD SON HERE ANXIOUS TO GET HOME AND SHE PUT FORTUNE COOKIES IN OUR HAND AND ASKED 3 TIMES “NO TIP ON TABLE??” I SAID WE LEFT A TIP ON THE CARD AND SHE SAID “YES BUT NO CASH??” WE LEFT AND TOLD THE CASHIER. WE WONT BE BACK, ESPECIALLY AFTER SEEING A REVIEW 4 MONTHS AGO WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. SO THEY DID NOT HANDLE THIS ISSUE!!
