New China Restaurant — Restaurant in Spartanburg

The best Chinese restaurant in town. Boneless almond chicken and egg drop soup are my favs. I don't eat egg rolls anywhere but here. Fantastic! May seem short staffed at times, but definitely worth the patience. **Updated as of 5-13-25 / First visit under new owners/management. Food has changed and is not as good as it was. I feel like the new owners are using MSG (the previous owners did not). I can definitely tell the difference. I didn't want to eat as much as I normally would because there was something unpleasant about it. And I ended up throwing away the leftovers that I took home (which I never do). My boyfriend and I both had upset stomachs that evening and into the next day. That has never happened before with New China. I have always been afraid to eat here but there isn't many Chinese restaurants on the East side of Spartanburg. The parking lot is weird and split into 2, the front door is also not the front door.. The inside of the building is super outdated. BUT THE FOOD IS VERY GOOD! I have ate general tso, sesame and sweet and sour chicken, hot n sour and egg drop soup, cheese wonton, and egg rolls. The food has not disappointed. I will say that the owner has gotten my phone orders wrong (ordered lunch special, but she called it the new china special (double the price) so be careful and re-confirm order. If I could give it a zero I would. I’m a Door Dasher and I have never been to this establishment in my life until today. I WANT MY TIME BACK. I had one job. Go in, place two separate door dash orders, pay with my red card, and leave to make the deliveries. When I walked in the door and told the lady what I needed she followed up with “two people already come and leave, you third, they had no money to pay” and walked off. She said it exactly like that and walked off. I had to call dasher support for them to intervene and she talked to them and told them the exact same thing and told me “they ordered, now you pay” .
