We wanted to try something new.. so we put in the address for another restaurant drove there.. and they were randomly closed.. at the same time another family was trying to go to the same place.. we were all confused to why.. but the other family said there was a Puerto Rican place just a short walk down... So we followed this family.. and here we are..
I know the flavor used in the cooking, but never had authentic Latin food.. and it was worth it..
Simply put... Choose a rice, choose a meat, choose two sides.. I speak Spanish so translation is easy for me to understand.. my spouse and kids.. not so much..
It's servered cafeteria style so you see what you are getting.. if you don't speak Spanish..no problem.. just point.. but will give you some... Help
First.. rice.. plain white rice or rice with beans. Second. Pick the meat, it went in this order.. chicken on the bone, beef, and pork ( pork chops ).. some is in sauce... Don't worry about that.. it's the flavor.
Then sides... Veggies, pasta salad, fried plantains, and a few others.. they also do a tamale, but it's different then let's say a Mexican tamale.. if my understanding is correct ... It plantain (fumundo) vs corn. It's kind of hard to explain the taste unless you've had a grape leaf..
So I went with the rice and beans extra beans with the carnitas frita.. ( fried pork chop ) which was recommended by a guy in the family we followed.. pasta salad, and that tamale.. simply put.. great flavor.. not...
Read moreI saw my husband’s comment on our visit to your restaurant. And also saw your response to the same. It’s a shame that you should of responded with such a sarcastic remark. The truth of the matter, just to prove a point is we don’t need to fly back to Puerto Rico to eat great Puerto Rican cuisine, and least of all our grandmothers house who by the way has long passed away. We both prepare the best and by far could guarantee you that our true authentic Puerto Rican food would surpass whatever you have to offer. Let me give you my personal opinion of what I classified your restaurants quality.service, and pricing as. And by the way this is called constructive criticism.
1- Quality found to be poor, Alcapurrias where burnt as well the empanadillas. 2- Service , didn’t find being served in styrofoam plates to professional . Your waitress even thou she did her best to accommodate us was lacking in experience. She did what she could with what little tools you gave her to work with. Plate presentation needs a lot of work. Did notice you had some construction going on to expand next door but right next to the dining area where we were being served. 3- Pricing, not to par with service and quality. You fly the Puerto Rican Flag which represents our Caribbean island. We take great pride in that. Therefore it would be nice to be represented as well. I don’t hold you or anybody in your establishment I’ll will , we truly wish you the best in your...
Read moreSave some money and don't go. From reviews I expected some great Puerto Rican food and I wanted to support small local business but it left much to be desired. The food was limited, most of it was bland and not good. The menu consisted of 3 different types of rice, 2 different types of beans, 3 different types of meat and 2 sides. Plus, the limited drink selection of only Coke, sprite, Malta or water. By 3pm when we came in, they had ran out of Piña Colada that was advertised next to the cashier. For food my family and I got 2 different rices, 2 different meats, 1 type of beans and the 2 sides. Only one of the rices was good which was arroz con gandules, only one of the meats was midly decent and only the plantains (side option) was good. So basically 1 of the 3 meals was half-way good and we chucked the rest. Not even the fried yuca (2nd side option) was good and that's coming from another Latin person. Next, the girl that was serving my food couldn't even hear me as I pointed to food and asked what some of it was because the music was so loud you couldn't hear unless you yelled over the counter and she even seemed that she didn't want to serve. Lastly, the young girls at the cashier also seemed very uninterested in their jobs while chewing gum quite widely that I could see it which seems a little rude. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Maybe my family and I came at a bad time but I unfortunately think it will be a...
