There’s a lot to like here and a few things that are quite frustrating. From the start, this places kinda reminds me of Atilanos only cleaner inside and with better food. It’s an oddly configured building with a walk up to get to the ordering station. There were 5 people in front of us and it took us 20 minutes to order. Probably should add an order station to expedite because there were at least 3 parties behind us left because of the long wait. The low speed at the cashier helped bail out the slow kitchen, though. After we ordered, it was another 20 minutes to get our food. Was it worth the wait, well… we really had no choice. It was good. Asada fries had a lot going on with great flavors however the meat was extremely dry. Next time I’ll ask for the Birria instead. Wife ordered the street tacos—they were the biggest street tacos I’ve ever seen which made the $3 quite reasonable. The birria itself was pretty good. The beef was obviously slow roasted, tender, and moist. They included a nice selection of sauces and condiments but be CAREFUL!! One of the condiments of pickled veg included ghost (or maybe habanero) peppers—my mouth and innards are still recovering. Definitely want to return to try the quessbirria and the...
Read moreSo, the food was good! The service was pretty extraordinarily slow, for how slow it was when we got in there (there were 4 other people in there that had already gotten their food and were eating) - we ordered the carne asada fries, and 4 street tacos. The music was really, really loud, and it seemed we came close to shift change, and when the “new” people got there, it seemed they didn’t like the super loud music either, because thankfully they turned it off, so that was nice. All in all, ot was a bit pricey, but good - the chicken street tacos had a tiny bit of good, flavorful spice to them, and the carne asada fries were head and SHOULDERS above Atilanos carne asada fries, so all in all, I’ll be back. Maybe they had a bad day in the kitchen or something, or weren’t feeling very motivated or something, I don’t know, but I’m absolutely willing to give them another shot, in the hopes that service will be a bit quicker, so I can try some more of...
Read moreFirst time ever in Washington. I’m from San Diego and usually make trips down to Tijuana, so I know what good birria tastes like. I’ve been on a road trip from Denver hitting all the national parks, and by the time I got to Spokane, I was really missing home.
I saw this place had birria “estilo Tijuana” and figured I’d give it a shot. Honestly, these are the best birria tacos I’ve ever had. No joke. The meat was super flavorful, the tortillas had that crispiness, and the consomé was perfect. I usually don’t even care for the broth, but I drank all of it!
They’ve also got a toppings bar where you can load up on cilantro, onions, and all that. Everything was clean.
The lady working there was a little serious, not rude or anything, just very direct. I was surprised it wasn’t packed, just me and a couple of other Mexicans on a Sunday morning.
If you’re in Spokane and missing that real Tijuana-style flavor, this is 100 percent worth...
