I have no idea what some of these other reviewers were on before they wrote their reviews, but it must have been some strong stuff.
The Donut Parade is the best Donut shop I've ever been to. The staff is always friendly, and always courteous, and in the 9 months so far that I've lived here, they've been the exact same people. It's an older building, so any complaints about the look or hygiene should be taken with a large grain of salt: it's not a doctors office and generally that's part of the appeal. The donuts are all tasty, but I'm personally partial to the maple bars and the Flatliner: a sausage filled and bacon topped version of the maple bar; it's as good as it sounds! Also, my favorite item on the menu is the cheesy bacon biscuits and gravy with the green tobasco to top it off. It's a large order so I'd stick to the single if I were you until you know if you can handle it.
The DP appears to be family owned and operated and, so long as your not an a-hole and at least half decent to them, they treat you like good family. They seem to know the majority of their customers, and they take the time to have conversations beyond the usual "How's your day going" with them, which shows that they care beyond just the business. The few (I think it's only been twice actually) that they've failed to greet me in the 50+ times I've been in, have only been when they were extremely busy and all occupied with customers. Speaking of, the place is super popular and if any of those negative reviews were normative, I highly doubt they would be doing as much custom as they do. The Donut Parade has a lifetime customer in me, and regardless of if I live in Spokane the rest of my life or not, I'll make sure I stop in when I am in town. Forget the haters and go and check it out yourself, you won't regret it. While you're there say hey to Christian and the...
Read moreStopped here on a cross country trip and I just loved this place. Maybe they’re only the “best-ish” donuts in Spokane but as someone who’s had donuts at 500+ different shops across the continent, I assure you they’re one of the most fun anywhere. I had read about the pineapple jalapeño fritter and even though it sounded like a mistake I had to try one. So I pointed to what I thought was that one when I ordered, and the extremely friendly person helping me said actually that’s a pickle fritter. At that moment I felt like nope, not crossing that line, so I selected two other more conventional donuts (They had pumpkin! In May!) to go with the pineapple jalapeño and paid. I stepped away to use the restroom and had a revelation: when will I ever have a chance to get a pickle fritter again? So I came out and told her I changed my mind and wanted to try one anyway. She laughed and said I could have one, her compliments. And…okay, it’s not something I’m gonna get again. But for a pickle fritter, it was actually really well executed. Lots of dill pickle chips (think Vlasic hamburger chips) baked in sweet sweet dough with sweet sweet glaze all over it. So obviously the problem is me. Go...
Read moreThis was my first time at Donut Parade and it won't be my last. The sweet smell of the classic donut shop hits you as walk in. The friendly faces greet you and ask what they can get you. At this point, one of everything seemed appropriate as everything they had displayed looked as good as they smelled if not better. It's sensory overload and should be outlawed. Thank God I only brought $20 because I would have spent every penny I had.
The service is great. The smell, the atmosphere, and the incredible display of culinary perfection are something you have to experience. They take pride in what they do. Each donut is made with love and makes them that much better. The warm maple bars will have you coming back until you're broke or stuffed.
I can't think of one negative thing I saw or experienced while visiting this slice of heaven.
Apparently, they've been here in Spokane since the 1960s. I'm just happy they didn't call it quits like many small businesses had to when COVID hit. Come on out and help support another amazing small business in Spokane. You will not regret it.
I'll be sure to take pictures and post them the next time I grab something from...
