We did not have a good experience here at all. It started kinda ok my husband got his beer pretty fast but my glass of wine took almost 30 mins and because supposedly they didn't carry the one I ordered but had another but it was $2 more a glass I said ok..,now I ordered Pinot grigio which is a white wine and they tried to give me a Pinot noir which is a red wine. We got that straightened out as our appetizers were being delivered and then a minute later our soups that came with our entrees we're brought to us, we'd barely started eating our appetizers, and we now had our soup then another minute passes and now our entrees are now being delivered to us(In less than a 5 minute span we had our entire meal delivered to our table). Now they did take our entrees back to "keep warm" which was at least 20 minutes... Not very fresh for made to order entree's and they were neither of them very hot .... Just Luke warm. The fresh baked strudel was was warmed in the microwave and we burned our mouths and instead of the crust of it being crispy and flakey it was soggy. Now the bill came and the waitress gives it to us and says "Oh I forgot to put the desert on there just add $3.95 to your total". I was floored!! We looked over the bill it was not correct she tried to charge my glass of wine $9 instead of the $7, so now my husband asked to speak to the manager...who in our eyes we thought was just a bar waitress .... She was not dressed professionally at all .....jeans and a older looking t-shirt. Not a very good representation of your company as a manager. They did take off one of our meals and the desert, and the waitress didn't even give the right change back!!!! I do not know if we will try eating there again or not.......the taste of the food was good just needed to be hot but the service left a lot to be bragged about and half of the eating out experience is how is the...
Read moreThis was one of my Favorite places to eat in Spokane but after the experience I had last last night, April 20th, 2023. I can't say I am going to be returning soon.
I had been out of the area for a little over a year and well back in the area been eating at some of my old favorites. Das Stein Haus has always been one of my favorite because it was good food, Wait staff that made you feel like family and great atmosphere.
The food is just as good as I remember it but the server i had last night was clueless. When we came in there was only 3 tables in the dining room. Nothing I would call busy looked like two of them were just finishing up. The server set us in a timely matter and said she would be right back with some waters. About 5 minutes pass and she returning with the water ask if we wanted anything else to drink, we didn't and she then said I will be right back to take your order. over the next 5 minutes I saw here running in and out of the kitchen like a chicken with its head cut off. When she returned we had some questions for her because my dining partner has dietary restrictions and we just needed to make sure either they could eat it or we could substitute something else. She was completely clueless about what goes into the items we ask about and said she couldn't do the substitute we ask about. So we end up ordering something else because she didn't know the menu well enough to answer the question.
We ended having to send one item back 2 time because she "didn't here use say dressing on the side" even though we repeated the order to her 2 times.
But to bring this to an end based of the lack of knowledge in the servers and the change in atmosphere because of that. I will not be...
Read moreDas Stein Haus is a true gem in Spokane. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the aromas of authentic German cuisine and the inviting atmosphere of a cozy tavern.
On our recent visit, my husband and I indulged in some of their specialties, and we were absolutely delighted. The classic schnitzel was beyond divine - perfectly breaded and fried to golden perfection, it was a true taste of Germany.
But what truly stole the show was this month's special: the smoked Gouda brat with onions and split pea soup. It was as if they read my husband's mind because it was exactly what he was craving. The smoky flavor of the bratwurst combined with the creamy richness of the split pea soup created a harmony of flavors that left us wanting more.
Of course, a dining experience is not just about the food; it's also about the service. And I must say, our waitress was exceptional. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely seemed to enjoy being there, which only added to the overall enjoyment of our meal.
Despite being busy with the regular crowd, the atmosphere at Das Stein Haus is always welcoming and lively. It's the kind of place where you can see yourself becoming a regular, and indeed, my husband and I are already planning our next visit.
If you're craving authentic German cuisine served with a side of warmth and hospitality, look no further than Das Stein Haus. It's a true taste of Germany right...
