I spent a night wandering and looking at the stars. What are the miracles that await me, I thought, if I could only be spirited away to the corners of the universe? But my earthy life was all too ordinary; there was nothing extraordinary about my life. As the clock turned to seven my lonely sojourn took me down Garland Street. When would I escape the plainness of my terrestrial existence, I wondered. When would I find passage to other worlds, a fitting ferry to transport me to a better potentiality? My earth-bound footsteps took me past closed thrift stores and diners, and I rubbed my eyes in confusion. Was this, before me, a spacecraft? Surely, I thought, such a vessel would not allow my entrance, but to my surprise the door to Rocket Bakery opened. Within, I found a display case. I discovered wonders: muffins! cookies! cinnamon rolls the size of Saturn! Houston, we do not have a problem; we have here the solution to our drab earthly realities. We have a passage to the stars, moon, and heavenly bodies!
I ordered a muffin and a coffee, and I was aghast at the fairness of the payment required. It didn’t require a conversation with my bank loan officer such as in other trendy coffee places asking for a purchase. No, the passage on this rocket was only seven dollars for my muffin and coffee. In taking my seat in this vessel and consuming these treasures I found comfort, fullness, and all the wonders of the universe and . . . ...
Read moreThis coffee shop started out fine, the employee was sweet and sociable. Didn't stay long enough to check out the bathrooms. The decor is so not my cup of tea (old and rugged), and the light cover had webs - downtown's shop is very nice. Still, what I just went through here nothing can make my frustration go away but time. I really wasn't surprised after the fact b/c I had unpleasant experiences at their downtown location like twice and now this Garland location, sadly...b/c I believe only Starbucks can make you miserable. I ordered and all was well, then a man w/two boys just totally out of control comes in, they start swinging on bars kicking the chair to my table and the chair hitting the table. I'm patient, delusionally believing the Father was going to handle the boys or the employee at least make the Father aware...but no, of course not! After enduring this for several inappropriate minutes, one of the boys started to scream as in throws a fit, but the Father still does nothing and literally comes to sit near me...w/the entire section available that was nearly empty on the other side, he chooses to sit where I was - I gathered my stuff and left my freshly paid tea on the table! On the positive side I ended up finding a fantastic coffee shop on the same street and it was a...
Read moreThe coffee is always good, quick, and well prepared -- and it's never too sweet like so many other coffee joints in town. Additionally they have great baked goods and quick breakfast items as well. Finally, it's a great place to not only enjoy a good cup of joe and a snack, but also provides a nice, quiet atmosphere and good wifi if you want to get some work done while you're there. One of my favorite spots in town for these reasons.
P.S. the staff are always very sweet, accommodating, and friendly. Can't recommend...
