I really do enjoy this place, however, I was severely disappointed to see the hours of operation listed online vary from what is posted on the outside of the building and on their voicemail. When I went today, at 7:15AM, the open sign was lit, some lights inside were on and the posted hours and hours listed on Google said "Opens at 7". Not only was the door locked, but no one answered my several attempts to knock. After no success getting anyone's attention (I'm not sure if anyone was actually there), I tried calling and got a voicemail message that they open at 8AM. This discrepancy resulted in me having to take my business elsewhere for the day. I'm only taking away a star for this inconvenience, but this really needs to be addressed for customers to know the true hours of operation before visiting. I think the closers may have left the open sign on, but I really can't be certain at this point.

Iļø was expecting a busy, fun coffee shop with great food and was underwhelmed. The seating is old and uncomfortable- one of the benches looked like gum was stuck on it. There was hardly any selection of pastries – it looked like they just ran out, even though I was there around 7am on a Monday and the place was empty. The muffins and coffee cake Iļø got were hard and stale, and the English muffin breakfast sandwich was dry and not very tasty. The place all LOOKS cool and fun, but my experience was otherwise.

My best friend and I LOVE this place! We came here 3 years ago during a covid road trip for my bestie since he is GF and this place has lots of GF options. We are back 3 years later driving through Spokane and made a point to come back here. The food was just as good and we got to eat inside and talk to the staff and patrons this time. What a charming place, great food, good playlist, and all the people eating were happy and enjoying themselves. Great prices. I hope to come back again one day!

The beauty of this place cannot be quantified, let alone factored out of some formula… Folks either get it or they don’t. True enough, for your ā€˜average one-star critic,’ (e.i. typically, the individual born in nineteen eighty-something, or ninety-something.), Starbucks IS probably the best place for you.

The primary ingredients in Anvil Brand blends have traditionally been free and with an unlimited amount of refills. The short list contains such things as ā€˜dynamism, creativity, artistic expression, humility, acceptance, in addition to a sincerity of intent and thoughtful dialogue,’ which combine to form an atmos as rich as the Arabica itself.

Respectfully, I must submit that any experience at The Shop which did not include a Christmas With Shide, or a triple-mocha with Mark and Pia, or Mary Ann and Tom, or Ed, Craig, and Kevin – to include direct experience with an Everything Bagel with tomato pesto a’ la’ Jason, or the smell of Paul’s spring labor the evening after Street Faire…any experience not including a smile from Ben or a ā€˜dose of daily darkness’ and some form or any combination of the afore mentioned…must necessarily be considered ā€˜unqualified.’

It’s The Shop – the fact that the Arabica is comparable to anything one could ever have sampled in Belleview (circa ’92-’93) is beyond contestation – but the thing that has always, all ways, made The Shop unparalleled in Spokane, is a potential gestalt of taste, smell, sight and sound, directly contingent upon what the 'individual patron' brings through those big bay doors…

Again, if you’re not hip to Method (Tremolo), you might want to consider Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, or...

I’m not one to leave a negative review but I’m genuinely surprised this place has so many good reviews. I’m a local and have visited the Shop ever since I was young, always hoping something would be different than the last time I was there. But honestly, I have never had a good experience there. There was a time when I’d ordered my drink, sat at my table and went back up to get a cup of water from the jug they have at their counter. It was empty but when I asked the baker if she could refill it for me she said no because it’s ā€œnot her job.ā€ Another time I was studying there with a friend and we both got a very strong whiff of marijuana coming from an employee who was on his third snack break since we’d gotten there 45 minutes before. I wish I was making this up. I can’t tell you how unprofessional this is. The Shop has gotten my order wrong nearly every time I’ve gone there, and once when I confronted them about it, they told me to keep the drink they’d given me and that they’d make me a new one. They never did. I understand times are hard but the only reason this place stays in business is because it’s a convenient location to folks who live in the neighborhood; it has nothing to do with the quality of service. To say nothing of the vibe of the place. When I walk in there, something just feels off. If you’ve been in, I’m sure you know what I mean. I’m truly disappointed I don’t have anything positive to say about the Shop but I don’t think it’s unfair to expect more from a local...

Really disappointed. Shop is cute, but there are so many tables in there and you can hardly move around. I ordered a white coffee white chocolate iced mocha and asked them to surprise me with a flavor. Guess what i got? A cup full of chocolate milk. They did not even try to make a flavor cause they didn’t even reach for a bottle of syrup. Even though they charged me for it. I also ordered a gluten free breakfast sandwich. Which they asked me if they could put on the non-gluten grill because i assume they didn’t want to heat a second grill? Heres the thing about gluten. People get hella sick if they get glutened. I do not have Celiacs, but my partner does, and i do all i can to stay gluten free, and if he gets glutened from a kiss, he gets sick for days. Why does ā€œthe shopā€ even promote a gluten free friendly environment if they are just gonna throw your stuff on a gluten grill/fryer? Dude. It was just really irritating to have spent my money there. Ive had better coffee at Dutch Bros. And i think they are the worst in town. Would have liked to have found a place to go eat with my partner, this is definitely not it. I personally dont see any effort in making a memorable eating or coffee experience. Like i said, ive had better coffee from dutch bros. And the sandwich, which they made no effort to keep gluten free, was boring and lifeless. If the owners care about this business, please send a friend in and see what i am...
