Waffles Plus brings me back a good old memory about how I grew up and how My Sunday brunch was. This is not a fancy or a nicest restaurant but it has an unique atmosphere we can only find in a small town or a certain area (perhaps a mom and pop’s shop style in movies). The owner of the restaurant (Dale) often serves customers by himself and very friendly (even sit down with you to have a small talk). It is the ambience I like the most about the restaurant. If you like the true American Sunday brunch foods (eggs, sausage, hash brown and more), this is the place in Spokane WA. As their store name indicates, their waffles are exceptional and large size (tasty!). Their eggs are good (you may find customers asking additional eggs – over easy way). This is the place makes me to come back for foods and their friendly service. I would recommend anyone who likes American style breakfast.
• Service: Very good – How could I rate lower, since the owner serves customers and sits down with customers to have a small talk. • Price: Good – It really depends on where you live. If you come from a big city, this is a darn good deal with what Waffles Plus can offer. Even in Spokane area, this restaurant offers very reasonably priced meals. • Atmosphere: Average (Crowded and a bit noisy when the restaurant has a full of customers, Cleanness of restroom) • Food Quality: Taste is above average • Parking: It has own parking lot that accommodates many vehicles • Avoid factor: Make sure to call ahead during Sunday brunch time. This is a famous place in Spokane and might have to wait. Do not order too many foods since each dish is pretty big. • Recommendation: Try...
Read moreOur server, Jasmine, took good care of us & answered questions happily. She also brought us a mound of butter for our waffle & got the plate to split it on promptly. The butter is a pet peeve for me, because I don't do syrup. She happily suggested the waffle in place of the hashbrowns I didn't want. The food is American diner standard, meaning the hollandaise is from powder & bears little resemblance to the real thing, but we got lots of it at our request. The Eggs Benedict & Belgian waffle were done well (except for sauce issue), egg was over easy, not poached, but they did a good job & there was lots of runny yoke goodness. Ham was a good cut of breakfast ham rather than Canadian bacon, but tasty. We both had coffee- his from the pot, mine was supposed to be a double breve. I will say that hopefully they were having a bad coffee day! His regular coffee was the worst coffee I've ever tasted, or rather not tasted! Brown water covers it. My double, even charitably wouldn't have been termed expresso, but it did have some coffee like tendencies. But I admit to being picky. Atmosphere is classic diner, casual & noisy, but despite that I could hear my friend talk, a plus as I have hearing issues. I also liked that I wasn't freezing in my tank top, but others might find it too warm. I didn't think to ask if we were charged extra for anything or if they removed the coffee from the bill, but he said it was reasonable, so they may have - good customer service. They were busy, so I'd say this is your place, if you like basic...
Read moreI was vacillating between the 3 & 4 star food rating because of 1 glaring issue - the coffee was pretty bad. Like you'd expect that quality for inmates in jail, or for jurors in Spokane County superior court, to which I have had the displeasure of drinking. Another issue, but to a lesser degree, is the runny syrup. Did they cut it with water? I prefer mine to be more viscous. Now here's why the coffee didn't bring the star count down. They had real creamer. Granted, there's creamer packets on the table & we had to ask for it, but at least they have it. And I ate most of my food, a 3 egg with cheese omelet including bacon, and a waffle. That could be a couple's meal in itself. And the French toast was nice & cinnamony, just like I prefer. I just had to taste the French toast my wife ordered. And finally, an issue that would've definitely brought the rating down a star - real whipped butter, not the frozen packets of industrial lube oil aka margarine. Like another reviewer stated, the decor ain't much. But who needs some hoity-toity (or as the younger whippersnappers say, bougie) place with staff in uniforms & smaller portions of quail eggs over kale & beets? I definitely don't need to pay extra for style. Just ask my wife, who regularly makes comments about my very relaxed shorts & t shirts which I wear year round. Will we return? Most likely not, as we don't live in Spokane & when we do make it into town, we usually stay...
