Ichiza has been in business for maaaany years for a reason. It's been a while since I last visited Ichiza. I have many fond memories of the restaurant from years ago. It was our go-to spot for late night sesh over dinner, drinks, and appetizers. So I was stoked when I found out that they opened a second location. I've been wanting to check it out since they opened and I'm glad I was finally able to. Ichiza 2 Hanare is different from the original location as it has private dining rooms which provide a more intimate setting for your group. But the menu is similar. I was so glad to see that my favorite dish was still on the menu after all these years. Some items are cheap, and some are a bit overpriced for the small serving size.
Go for their skewers and/or some appetizers if you just want something light. If you're hungry and want something filling, they have ramen and rice bowls for you. My friend ordered Ramen and Corn Butter. She said the Ramen was good. Broth was light and flavorful. She didn't like the Corn Butter, but I did. It was simple yet delicious. I ordered their California Roll, Beef Tongue Skewer, Garlic Chicken Gizzard (my fave), and a glass of Kirin. The best late night food combo in my opinion.
They also have a good selection of desserts. Every time I hear or see Ichiza, the first thing that comes to mind is Honey Toast. It left a lasting impression on me that I can't help but associate the two. The Egg Custard Pudding looks amazing too. I didn't have the chance to try it on this visit. I might try it the next time I come back here.
Service was spot-on. Staff was friendly, fast, attentive, and made sure we had a pleasant dining experience.
Whether you're looking for a place to celebrate an occasion, or just enjoy a quiet meal with family, friends, or someone special without the distractions of a loud and busy restaurant, Ichiza 2 Hanare is a...
Read moreThis is a quaint little place with 100% private dining for friends to gather and have intimate, fulfilling conversations. The staff was quite friendly and attentive, and the restaurant was clean and inviting. The food is where things went a little wobbly. The two of us shared a series of small bites. The only standout main dish was the pork belly, which was reasonably priced. The skewers were also priced properly, but their flavors were generic and lacking in depth and variety. There was very little (if any) umami to speak of. It was meat on a stick with minimal spices and no sauce beyond a small dollop of spicy peanut puree. The sliced beef, while flavorful, was laughably small and cost what a large main dish went for. And the sausages and chips were nothing more than grocery store lil' smokies with fries and ketchup. It was fine, but not even remotely worth the price, and it was out of place in this venue. I will say that the star of the night was the honey toast. It was simple, with rich ice cream and honey over a piece of unsweetened Texas toast. It was simple, yet wildly successful for reasons I can't entirely understand. I did enjoy myself, but I think it was largely to do with my company. Save for a couple items, the meal itself lacked almost entirely. There was just enough potential that I'll go back to try their main dishes. So far, though, the food does not leave me...
Read moreI've been going to the OG Ichiza since 2008, my wife and I have been supporters since then. However the last few times there is always something wrong when we come to Icizia. I gave up awhile back but my wife loves Ichiza more than I do so I get strung along. We came a few months back and was not happy with the food or the service. She's currently pregnant and was craving chicken fired rice and a honey toast. She just came out the bathroom a few minutes ago from puking because the food did not sit right. The prices went up and the food quality went down, the chicken fried rice was way too greasy, the honey toast vanilla ice cream tasted like low quality ice cream. She ended up telling the server about how greasy the fried rice was and how it's never been so greasy before and the server apologized and said he would tell the chef about it. However my wife came home sick and ended up expelling everything she ate. We are both disappointed with Ichiza, they also took away many items that a lot of people miss and as I mentioned raised the prices up for now what it seems low quality food. Sadly, we won't be coming back after supporting them for...
