The address for this place for those using Maps or Waze is 14656 Ella Blvd, Houston, TX. The other address is showing as the address for the Ella Food Mart which has a parking lot that houses the food truck. Somewhere along the way, the addresses were updated to the new number.
Here is my review: This is a great food truck. I found it through a FB group for Black Owned Restaurants. There were such good reviews in the group that I had to check them out. Google Maps sends you to the wrong place. There are parked in the side lot of the mobile gas station and convenience store at the corner of Ella Blvd and Kuykendahl. The parking situation is problematic but that is only due to other businesses, the convenience store, and the overnight popularity this truck has gotten since over 40K people joined the group. As the reviews on FB mentioned, the wait is long, especially if you go during peak hours (2-6). They have been around for 2 years but has gained in popularity within the last two weeks. So with that said, patience is key. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros: The pizza is high quality, the sauce must be homemade because it has a good flavor. The crust is not a store bought crust either, it is definitely made with love and rolled out. This was a really good pizza. We also got wings...whew chile...they were perfectly fried (a perfect golden color) and was cooked all the way through! The seasoning was just right, not too salty. The fries looked plain but were really good. My husband and I was fighting over those fries. I got them for him but tried one and wanted them. So, don't sleep on the fries. I got buffalo sauce on the side but was told by a new friend I made in line that I should try the Chicago mild or crack sauce as she liked to call it. I will definitely be back. The accept credit and debit cards. Everyone was wearing a mask and gloves, so they are practicing sanitary precautions. The customer service was outstanding. The lady that took my order, took my phone number to call me when my order was ready (there are not very many places that will go that extra mile).
Cons: The wait is long. I arrived at 3:45, was able to order at 4:15 and my order wasn't ready until about 6:30. This was a long time for me but I was good with staying because the village said it was worth the wait and I drove from The Woodlands to try it, so I was invested in time and gas. (side note: I'm glad I waited and came) The parking is problematic at the peak rush hours.
Side note: If you buy something from the convenience store, pay attention to what he is ringing up because he doubled my quantity on one of my items. I caught it because I was...
Read moreThe food was good. My goal was to come in , place my take out order and have a drink at the bar while I waited for the food. Here is my honest review. I visited between 4-5:15 pm.. I walked in the “To go” side , immediately liked the interior vibe. There was not someone at the podium by the to go side to greet me so I was a little confused at first, but saw a menu on the podium so I began to stand there and look it over. Just a few seconds later, a waiter came and took my order. I ordered (2) 8 piece wings . One with fries and one with fried Okra. Waiter was nice and professional. He asked where I would be waiting for my order and I told him the bar. Went to the bar, was not greeted by the bartender, he in fact walked away when I sat down . So I pulled up the menu on the website, which has drinks listed to look it over on my phone for when he came back . Bartender comes back , still no greet so I asked him if I could order a drink. He states yes and I ask for a margarita. (As listed on the website) . He explains that they only have wine , or frozen daiquiris available . Cool so I ordered a daiquiri. Daiquiri was good but don’t think it was worth the $12.99. - or the $5 tip I gave. While waiting for my food , the waiter comes out to let me know there is no fried okra available and if I would like another side. I choose the mozzarella sticks . 30 mins waiting (which I don’t mind bc I love fresh food ) the food comes out . The chicken wings were fresh, hot and seasoned well. The only thing I would say is the Sauce ! I ordered the mild Chicago sauce , they literally drizzled the sauce on the wings. Anyone from the Midwest knows we like sauce . So whilst the wings could’ve had a bit more sauce, they were still good. My sister who had the other order said the same thing. She liked her fries and the mozzarella sticks were okay. Overall good food. Service was okay. (Could’ve been the time of day) I would possibly return for another try next time I...
Read moreI’m from Chicago and moved to Houston 3 years ago. I’m past the craving for good Chicago food, but when I saw this, I had to go. I ordered 6 pizza’s, 2 cheese, 1 half sausage half pepperoni, the ChiTalian (the BOMMB) and a 1 sausage and onion, you knowww!!! And one sausage and cheese. We also order the 8 wings and 12 shrimp! I’m use to great fresh seafood out here in Houston so the shrimp was a 10! The mild sauce they had for the chicken and shrimp was fire and a 10. Taste just like Chicago mild sauce. The pizza, the pizza, let me say, the best pizza out here for Houston was so far, Rosatis and maybe Star pizza, if you’re really from Chicago. I mean Everyone eat little Ceasars or Dominos EVERYWHERE if you on a budget and got kids. So, the pizza was everything and more. Welcome to Chicago! This is on the level of Beggars and Italian Fiesta. Y’all southsiders know what I’m talking about! It was the BOMB! IF You want Chicago style pizza, please come hither! Not deep dish. Deep dish on a whole other level and side of our amazing pizza options in Chicago. This that thin crust lay her on thick option. Man, ok, I can talk about this all day. Now the pizza sizes themselves were just a little smaller than little Caesars. So that’s why we bought so many and we wanted more. The ingredients were fresh and the crust was lite. Seriously, this my pizza spot on. Like people say you can’t mess up a sand-which, but you can. Same with pizza. Houston messed up the word pizza but it found its bounce back with ChiTalian in H-Town!!! Go try it. Get it hot and fresh. I drove 30mins to pickup and it was still banging. Ok I’m done. Hands up to great idea and...
